Christians use the "Levitical code" to explain this one. But, if you look it says not to tattoo your body for the dead. If you read the bible you will see in Matthew (I think) it says it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles the body. Not piercings ,tattoos, what we eat etc. I have a friend who is tattooed quite a bit and pierced. He goes into the streets to talk to people about God. He reaches many people for Lord that many of us wouldn't give the time of day. Many of them wouldn't begin to talk to a "yuppie". So his tattoos and piercing help him in his ministry. I don't think God looks down on him for that I think He's pleased because he's out doing what God has called him to do. We all have our own convictions, and we are all different I don't think we should push ours onto others.God will convict each of us how He wants to.
Oh yea I am a christian

The Leviticus verse everyone is quoting is not necessarily meant as a tattoo as we think of it. In that time, if a loved one died, they cut themselves as an outward symbol of an inward grief. It was basically saying to the world that you are forever scarred by the loss.

That being said, as a follower of Christ and a child of God, I might consider getting one if it were something I'd think would be pleasing to God in a personal way. I mean, it would have to be something that did not show to the general public but would make myself more appealing to my husband and not offend the temple that God says my body is. In that spirit, I'd consider it.

May I make a suggestion? Rather than a permanent tattoo, try one of the new temporary tattoes available. Some of the more expensive ones last 6 months or more. It's amazing what technology can do eh? lol

do what you feel is the proper choice. remember a tattoo is fairly permanent and if you want it removed it is a long, painful and expensive process. also removing the tattoo would leave a scar or a very noticeable blemish on the area where the tattoo was. also depending on the state in which one lives there are laws preventing anyone under the age of 18 from receiving a tattoo without parent or guardian consent.

There are many Christian sects in this world. They believe in many things, so it would be impossible for you to get a definitive answer from them.

In general, to be a Christian, it is unnecessary for you to believe in every word of either Bible. People who want simple answers for everything will quote a bunch of verses for you.

I think that, according to most Christian sects, simply accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is all you need to be considered a Christian. In particular, you do not need to believe in everything either Bible says. The statements I have seen against tattoos, supposedly based on Christianity, simply make no sense. They are typically based on vague Biblical verses that a person tells you, with complete confidence, he or she knows how they apply to the case at hand.

In general, however, I think tattoos are unwise because they are permanent. You may later change your mind. I think it is important that you maintain your freedom to choose, but when you get a tattoo, you immediately forfeit your Freedom of Choice.

Well it actually isn't totally. The problem is that we believers regard our body as the Temple of the Holy Spirit and as such it should not be violated in any way. However, some of us misuse the body in many ways such as excess alcohol, overeating etc. If you want to put a tasteful tatoo on then God won't be offended, but other Christians might be!

As Christians we do whatever is in accordance with our faith and is honouring to God. Our bodies are a gift from God and we do well to look after them. Speaking for myself only, I will never have tattoos or ear piercings simply because they are a one way street. When you have them, you have them for life. If your concern is to do the "Christian" thing, then think of why you would want a tattoo and how it reflects on your faith.

Probably. When I was Christian,I was terrified of "the mark of the Beast"(cue scary music).I have four, now, and am not the least bit frightened by them.I don't think "the mark of the Beast" was supposed to be taken as an actual mark.I think plenty of people already have it and don't even know it.Not that it matters to me at this point.

When you become a Born again Christian, your body no longer belongs to you.

John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

to be honest, i dont think so. i am a christiaan, and it says worship your body for it is a temple or somthing like that, right? but isnt make-up a sin ,or earings, or high-lights. so i reckon geting a tatoo in the right sense is not a bad or un-christiaanly thing to do.

I just remember wanting one so i got one. It had nothing to do with how much I love the Lord and it sure doesn't change how much God love me..

Jesus says "no one comes to the father except through me.."

"If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth then you are saved.."

GIve God a little more credit than that .. he is the creator.. and his love is limitless
