I am probably too late to answer this one, but you could try preventing getting a cold, then you would not need to find a way to survive the symptoms. For a start, your immune system is not working for you, otherwise you would not have a cold. There are a group of naturals that work, I know because I have tried them and I have not had a cold in the past three years. Due to advertising restrictions and the fear of spam, I cannot tell you what they are here. If you would like to see how effective they have been in countless illnesses then take a look at the testimonies on www.Glyco.com/Glycosaurus
There is no need to be suffering.

If your sad at work with a cold. Leave work then start yourself a cocaine habit. After which, once you become an addict, having a cold or being sad at work won't matter. Only where you next fix is coming from. This will get you though the day at least. You didn't say that the idea had to be a positive one. I'd just stay home and rest.

Chocolate and surfing the net. Try hot lemon as well if you can get your hands on any. Oranges are good for colds and peeling them will give you something to do.
Ask your boss if you can take a time out to go to get some pain killers from the local shops and walk really slowly, get yourself some sweets and chocolate and biscuits while your there. Oh and don't forgot to get the boss something to sweeten them up.

Go Home! Do it not just for yourself but for everyone else at work who is now subject to catching your cold and also potentitally missing work and passing it on. Tell your boss. If he or she has kids they'll understand and if they are worth anything they will MAKE you go home. If you don't have the paid sick leave built up or don't have that benefit, I'd suggest non drowsy sudafed if you can get to it and a cup of coffee.
