While we are living here in this material world as conditioned souls, everything in our lives is predestined by our previous actions. It is called the law of karma. We have certain suffering and certain enjoyment awaiting us.
Our free choice is to love God or to leave Him. Currrently we have left Him, therefore we do not have any freedom - we are controlled by the laws of material nature. However, at any moment we can decide that from now on I am going to love God. If we agree to surrender to the Lord and take shelter of Him, He has promised that He will deliver us from our karma, and we will attain unlimited freedom, we will change our destiny. So we must choose between these two paths: either we continue to do what we want and remain in this material world, or we agree to lovingly serve the Lord and attain spiritual world.

What I love about Y!A is how people love to give you thumbs down for expressing your personal beliefs. wtf is with that?
I can believe that a pink dinosaur will take me to a factory when I die, and make my body back to my teenage years (I am 19 now, but if I die of old age, I'd like to be 19 again), and then I'll travel to the end of the universe and have sex with Evangeline Lilly all day, and you all can't prove my belief is wrong.
Beliefs are never wrong, they just might not be right, if that makes sense. :P
I believe that there's a bit of both. Our lives are not predestined by say an elite being, but by other peoples choices. Like your parents for example. When you lived with them, you lived with them. You didnt choose where you lived. They did, thus choosing the enviroment you had to grow up in. It's just a matter of what you choose to do in that enviroment

We have been given the freedom of choice by God. So where is this so called predestination? We ouselves take what ever path in life we choose. We are responsible for our own destination. So where is this so called pre destination?

I believe a lot of us are predestined, but we still have options to choose in carrying it out.

You have free choice but you also have to work through the karmic consequences of past actions. The more enlightened you become the less karma you create and the greater your free choice will be and someone like Buddha for example had absolute free choice because they were no longer bound by the chains of karma and materialism.

I would certainly hate to think that nothing I do matters. Good works and efforts are, ultimately, meaningless
