as someone who has done the odd interview, I would prefer it if an interviewee came in and told us about their condition at the interview.
Assuming that you are as equally qualified as everyone else....and assuming that the company is only holding interviews on one day...
You are correct that, if you do not go in, you will almost certainly NOT get the job..... even if you phone up.... even if you throw up while you are on the phone, You will be put to the bottom of the list and the other candidates would have to be *pretty bad* before they contacted you again
However - If they are going to be interviewing over a couple of days, you could ask for a postponement, otherwise (if you actually want the job) go in
{edit}
I have read a couple of the other answers, and I have to say that some people have a rose-tinted view of interviews.
Let me tell you the situation. I have, say, 5 people who are going to take a chunk out of my busy day. each one is equally qualified (on the basis of their CV) and each one is glowing, enthusiastic and keen (at least, at the interview they are). If someone doesn't turn up....for ANY reason.....I have one less interview to do....Hooray! it means I have less time to waste explaining the company and the job.....Tomorrow is too late... I have appointments to keep and work to do. I scheduled these interviews one or two weeks ago, and if you cant turn up, I don't care who's life you've saved or how Ill that you are, I am going to put you right at the bottom of my list. I am sorry if that's harsh, but it's true.

Well, as wrong as it is, if you cancel there is a high likelyhood that you will not be considered for the job.
I was on the way to an interview at my current job, when I came upon an accident that had just happened. I was the first one on the scene, and couldn't drive away. As I was slowing down to pull over, I hit a piece of debre from the wreck and damaged my own car. I obviously couldn't make it to the interview, and when I called the office manager sounded like she didn't believe me and didn't want to reschedule another interview. Luckely, I convinced her to give me another one and I did get the job, but she could have easily said "No, Sorry".
I would show them just how dedicated that you are, and show up. If they see you are very ill but still managed to come in, then it will show them that you would be a loyal and hardworking person.

Nooooo! If you have to go to the loo ever five minutes how on earth can you go for an interview?. You need to take immoden or isobgol . Phone them up immediately and tell them what has happened. Apologise and ask if it is possible for them to give you another appointment as soon as you feel better. No good going for an interview and not feeling well. You will not do your best feeling ill.. Hope you get better soon and get a good job when you are feeling up to it.

Ring them and tell them the truth and see if they will do the interview over the phone. If they like you then you can go in in a couple of days and see them and they can ask you any other questions they might have. That way you'll seem keen, it will prove you can problem-solve and you don't have to go far from the loo! Good luck

I would try and make the effort to go. Tell the new employer before you start the interview, that you are not well, but how much pleasure the job would give you if you were offered the job hence thats why you came to the interview . Good luck..

Go to the interview. you're just experiencing butterflies in the stomach. Don't worry about it. Plus as a hiring administrator myself, it looks very impressive for someone who does not feel good to show up for the interview. Why? because it shows that you are dedicated, not a cry baby, whinner or anything else for that matter. I would hire you on the spot for showing up when you weren't the best feeling that you could have been.

Only you know how sick you really feel. If you think that despite the medicines you will still puke, then of course you cannot go. So then you should phone and explain asking for an interview for tomorrow (these things usually only last for 24 hours - just keep off all foods and only sip weak tea or water).

Personally i'd ring them and explain and ask what they think the best course of action is, they are far more likely to be understanding if they know what the situation is, if you're straight with them they cant really be anything other than reasonable. People get ill, you cant help the fact thats its come at the worst possible time for you. Ring them i'm sure they'll understand.

Just phone them up straight away and ask if you can reschedule for tommorow.
Let them know how you are feeling and that you are still keen to do the interview.
They should be fine. Chances are that you'll be speaking to a secretary and not the interveiwer anyway, so don't be nervous.
It shouldn't mark you down for being honest and if they do you wouldn't want to work there anyway!

Do your best to go but if you really feel you cant then try to call the company ASAP to explain. Rather than cancelling ask them to reschedule the interview for you and explain you have a virus or something which may be contagious.
