If you owe back taxes, the IRS can waive some or all of the amount you owe, but they'll only do that if over a period of time they see that you have no assets they can seize, and there's no way you will ever be able to pay any of it. Normally, they'll set up a payment plan for you to pay it off over time.

If you are non green card holder or not a citizen, just leave the country, but you can never return as they will get you upon entry for tax evasion. If you intend to stay, I would contact a good tax lawyer as you see on most TV channels always ads for them...TAX AMNESTY is a good thing , because even if a tax auditor agrees not to press charges at that time, the file is never closed and they can and usually do come after you sometime down the road and it could be a year later or ten years later some rookie sees the file and wants to make a name for himself by collecting back taxes. & you are it..SEE a TAX Lawyer.
