You can buy a home colour kit which lifts the colour of your own hair to a lighter shade without actually bleaching your hair. Though it will contain peroxide, but the volume will not be as great as oridinary bleaching and it will leave your hair in good condition provided you follow the instructions to the letter.

Buy a colour perhaps two shades lighter. Look at the guide on the side of the box and this will help you decide on the colour best suited to you.

Good colouring!

Lemon juice is citric acid which is a mild bleaching agent, when you go lighter you are removing some color from the hair shaft. Just because it comes out of a fruit doesn't mean there are no naturally occurring chemicals involved and that you aren't bleaching your hair.

Try camomile from Body Shop but it's a bit messy. Could try lemon juice and sunlight but that can make your hair a bit orange depending how brown it is.

Could try the new shampoos and conditioners about now for blondes - these have a bit of colourant in them that gradually lightens hair over washes. Or a temporary wash-in, wash-out dye from the chemist's.

I think that if you were to get a hair dye for a lighter colour, then there would probably be some form of bleach in it?? - I doubt yu will lighten your hair without any form of bleach??!!

The best thing to do is to get some highlights put in your hair, that way you are getting lighter brighter strands placed throughout your hair, without dying your whole head, and sacrificing your natural color...maybe some light brown highlights, or caramel

you can lift your hair colour up without using bleach only if your hair has'nt got any chemical colour already on it as hair dye will not usually lift other hair dye if it has you would need the help of bleach.if your hair is in it's natural state you will need to choose a permanent tint with at least up to 2 shades lift, don't go any higher otherwise it may go brassy.follow the instructions carefully.if you have cool tones in your hair and skin generally stick to cool tones,if warm coloured hair and skin then go for warm(makes sense)permanent hair dye will have some form of peroxide in it.remember without bleach though hair will only achieve acertain amount of lift.sun obviously lightens the hair but,if your hair is very dark camomile shampoos wont lighten it that much.

I'd think not, just get a very light bleach. Remember, you can always go lighter, but you'd have to dye your hair again to go darker!

To make your hair lighter you need to take the colour out, which means bleaching, either with peroxide or lemon juice. why dont you try some subtle highlights by a good hair colourist?
