Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka KS is planning to protest the funerals of the Amish girls who were killed in the school. They are doing it because (get this) they PA governor is critical of them.
Can someone explain this kook to me??? This, to me, is a WTF moment.

Marvin R - You are right that we have to respect their right to protest. Freedom of speech is a fundemental right in the US.
I also have the right to say they are wrong in what they are doing.

a_blvr - I'll have to agree. Most Christians are loving and caring people. This guy and the KKK give the rest of us a bad name.

This seems strange. I don't care who dies, we should show respect to the families who are mourning. Even to a mass murderer, the families aren't all like that and also the deceased was a family member, loved by someone.

Rev. Phelps is a sociopath in the guise of a Christian minister. He and his congregation need the living **** beat out of them a few times and it will end this nonsense.
I've have dealt with many Amish people in a hospital setting. They are the most benign kind people you would ever want to meet.I would treat Rev. Phelps like a white supremist or a KKK member I met on the street.

Following the Fundamentalist Doctrine, God is in control of EVERYTHING, therefore He probably had something to do with those shootings.
If they believe that, why give them any credit for having even an ounce of common sense? They are just idiots who believe they are somehow special; the irony is that the version of God they worship is smart enough to have created life, the universe and everything, but only managed to make a few dozen humans in Topeka who understand his "true" message. The rest of humanity are apparently "selected imperfects"....

Don't know if this is true, but after they protested a military death here, I was told that they protest hoping to draw violent acts against them so that they can file suit against the local government for nonprotection of their due rights. Sounds like something that could happen--God bless our soldiers have always stood in the gap to protect the rights of all, even the kooks, in the USA.

Freedom of Speech. You know, this freedom can be taken too far sometimes... and I believe this is one of those times. But, the families will get over the initial shock... and people will continue to be upset with this Phelps ********... and when that old man finally dies, I plan on being at his funeral with a few signs of my own.

The fact that a group of people would use a funeral to further their political point is really sad. The fact that they call themselves a church is tragic. They seem to be a thinly masked hate group. Remember the KKK? They claim to be Christians also.
GOD bless ya.

Are they the people lead by that Shirley Phelps-Roper?
Yeah, she's his wife. She does a lot of the Public Relations I guess.
If it is, then everyone is critical of them. They think that everyone outside their little division is going to hell. They protest army soldiers funerals, because "they died for the queers"
Crazy crazy people. Good thing is, their little group is self containing, there's only like 100 of them and they stay within their group, they'll die out eventually.

Anyone that would actually protest the funerals of innocent victims are just showing their narrow minds and ignorance to Christ's Law of love and respect for the victims and their friends and family.
I did a google and found that they are a hate group

Protesting at a funeral for any reason is sickening. They're only doing it to gain attention. People realized that they were dependent on attention, and when people started to ignore them, they got desperate.

A funeral is no place for political stupidity... thats what you have other public places and Congress for.
These "Baptists" are really off their rockers... why they do stuff like this is so incomprehensible that I bet they dont even know why they do it.
