(it took about a minute or less to regain feeling but it was like looking at the arm of a corpse attached to my elbow--it wasnt just numb and tingly; I had to move it up from the bed with the hand of my other arm; this was the day before yesterday) And I just went outside and started to taste in my mouth like when there's a dead squirrel nearby except it seemed to be coming from my stomach.

It sounds like you slept on your arm all night. Don't know where the taste would come from. Were you feeling a little nauseated that morning???
I've woken up with a limp arm. It took me a full 2 minutes to regain any feeling. It was kind of weird.
I think the most annoying though was when I was suddenly woken from sleep and was paralyzed (couldn't move anything) for about a minute afterwards.

More than likely you slept on it wrong and pinched the nerve. As far as tasting death? um dunno about that but if you get metal taste also described as a strong chemical taste, you should go to the Dr or er. Usually that taste means a type a seizure. If you have one full side of your body go numb go to er or Dr/ that could be a stroke or Tia's (miny strokes) Good luck

You slept on your arm and cut the circulation off for a while.
The bacteria in your mouth worked overtime while you were asleep. Quit worrying... it's normal stuff you're talking about.
