I keep having people on Y!A say they'll pray for me - though there's no need - and I wondered if Y!A has exposed you to so many atheists and sinners you'd otherwise never have known that all your hours are now spent praying for our immortal souls. Or do you use a catch-all clause at the end of prayers like "... and all the sinners on Yahooo Answers"? Couldn't you just save time and quickly say to God "please look after EVERYONE'S soul"?

And shouldn't he be doing that without asking?

I'm genuinely curious here. How does this work for you?

I only pray for those who ask or seek it. And one can pray while doing all the normal things of ones life. Not all prayer is on ones knees. Besides I have recently freed up several hours a week for prayer and reading, there is nothing else I can do during this time and I consider it an honor to be ALLOWED to pray for another.

Get your head out of the dirt, & look around & see the real world, You seem to think that we have to pray more since we have been of YA, NO we don't have to pray more, God already knows our prayers before we pray. I still pray the same amount of time, You see there is some that will never come to know Jesus Christ, that is why the Bible tells us to turn them over to satan for their destruction. Now concerning your soul, Your soul is not IMMORTAL, IT CAN ONLY BE IMMORTAL IF YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, & that is something you don't have, It does not bother me one bit what you or any other rather atheists, agnostics, & so on, say, I know where I stand. I am standing on that solid rock. Go head & said what ever you want to about me, Oh, Yes, don't forget to get all your so-called atheists, & Unbelieing friends to say something also, or do you have any friends.

There is always a need to pray and to be prayed for. Praying for individuals is a privilege that God allows us and we should never take it lightly. God is personal in his relationship with us and he wants us to be equally personal in our relationship with him. God looks out for us, but he also wants us to look out for our fellow human beings. We are to be like Christ; therefore, we are to pray for others and develop Christ-honoring personal relationships with them. Praying for another is as personal as it gets. Prayer is spiritual, and it is part of our spiritual development. We are not brainwashed by atheists and sinners---it is the reason that they are on this forum that we are here and have purpose. If there were no atheists and sinners to pray for, then our lives would be much sadder. In the name of Jesus and by his blood I pray for you now that the Holy Spirit will light your way to the throne of Christ and that you will receive the prayers of righteous men and women that your mortal life and eternal life be granted much favor from God. Amen.

I usually don't pray for people. It's got to be a real emergency for me to waste mine and God's time with it. God's got lotsa time on His hands, and He's a good multi-tasker, but I'm busy as heck and can barely keep up with work and family, let alone praying for people who would probably be happier in hell than in Heaven anyway. Besides, God's got that all sorted out anyway. He already knows who's going where. And from what I've seen, embracing a "christian lifestyle" is no guarantee of a real conversion. A preacher on TV just said "If you see a 'tornader' or a hurricane- go speak to it! Take authority over it in Jesus' name!" I don't know what he's thinking. Sounds like attempted murder to me. He'll be in his climate controlled bunker with playboy bunnies waiting on him while he sends his sheep to slaughter. I like that Jesus called us sheep. Did you ever see one sheep decide he was "head sheep"? Well, Jesus did warn us about wolves in sheeps clothing. These guys might claim to be sheep, but they're fleecing the flock. I'm not praying for these guys either. It's them you hate, though, not Jesus. And if you're going to hell at least you'll get to see these guys get their due. Hope it's worth the trip.

As a Catholic Christian, I'm often wondering that myself. Like is one prayer done for 2 people as half as effective as the same prayer done for just one person?

Here's a link to the 2 parable about prayers according to Jesus.
Hope that helps. ~_^ God bless and haha, "I'll pray for you"

I'm not a theist, but logically speaking, no one should have to pray if the Biblical God is what they claim him to be.

He only answers prayers how he wants, when he wants and if he wants.

Which makes prayer sound pretty useless.

anytime there is anyone asking for Prayers and Petitions to GOD on their or someone Else's behalf am more than willing to help, aid, and assist my fellow mortals. If I help others in their time of need when I am in need or want then I shall also receive the help I need otherwise I will not. as you have done unto the least of these you have done it unto me.
