This something that i have always wondered. how is it possible that my having a different belief than someone threatening to them if i have never offended them? like i have stated before it comes from an insecurity in one's own faith or lack there of. another's unsurety of life creates a fear in them that makes them feel as though they must attack others. it is not different than a child who insults another in order to make themselves feel better. However, the same as with the child hate cannot absolve such an insecurity

I used to be Catholic until I got married. I had been disillusioned with the religion before I was 13 yrs old.
I started to question their doctines, and found many of them man made...( no offense, just my own questions)
Having this faith that you have, does not endanger me, nor should it endanger anyone else. As for concern, I am concerned for anyone, whether in a religion or not, that they would hopefully seek out whatever truths God and Jesus would inspire us to, to accept Him and to work on our individual Salvation. Perhaps you have done this, and want to still be a Catholic Christian...and I'm glad that nothing can take your faith away. That's truly wonderful.
My point of debate is that being a former Catholic, I had so many questions to so many things the church taught, and my mind, my soul, my being needed answers that aren't in that church. I began studying the Bible, and I have learned alot...things I never would have learned, if I was still in the Catholic church.
I wouldn't debate this with you, as I believe in "live and let live, " and not judging others. God puts us where we should be, and I also believe that the name of the church does NOT matter to God. God knows our hearts, and saves us individually, based on our true spirituality, not according to what the name of the church is. Many different people from many different churches, and those who worship in spirit and in truth, will be chosen by God.
I won't debate you...but I would challenge you....and anyone else who believes that they have "the one true religion." I challenge people to step outside of the box they're in, open your eyes and ears, and see what God actually says about worshipping Him.
I'm glad that you are a Christian...

As a Catholic Christian, I wouldn't say you need "rescuing". But the way of life I've found is very supportive and this faith of mine has made my outlook on life so much more meaningful and beautiful. Believing in Christ is one thing but it makes it comforting knowing that being in the Catholic church means being in the church He established and promised would last until He comes back.
Does that answer you question? I wasn't sure what you were asking because of your wording.

If faith blinds you and makes you feel that all is well when all is not.
Faith should give hope and the strength for one to use ones means to achieve the seemingly impossible. However every once in a while we tend to just hang on to faith seeing the faith as a cure all - rather than a source of strength. It kills your wisdom and sense of reasoning
This is when it endangers mankind...

Keep your faith but be aware of what it costs others.
It endangers me and concerns me when faith becomes politicized and imposes it's will on the rest of us through legislation...that's how, not to mention that faith is illogical and does not make for reasoned argument or discussion.
The Catholic church has vast global political ambitions and power and it is always politicking and arranging covert Concordats with various Governments, as a gay man I am constantly defamed and vilified by the Catholic church and the Pope personally intervenes to try to prevent gay citizens being given equal treatment...has that answered your question sufficiently?
So perhaps you can see how your faith and millions of others with faith like you concerns me and endangers me, closed minds like yours need rescuing because you don't seem to have a wider awareness of the unfortunate repercussions of your faith and what your religious leaders do in your name. Wake up to yourself and to reality.

Good for you. the one problem I have here is some people here feel Catholics are not Christian which is balderdash to put it politely. glad to hear nothing can take your faith away and agree 100 per cent. you do not need rescuing as we have all been rescued through the grace, power and sacrifice of JESUS.

What concerns me - in the sense of disliking it: the attitude to sex, to women's bodies in particular, the prohibition of condoms; the crazy intellectual gymnastics involved in believing in transubstantiation, the immaculate conception, etc.; the authoritarian attitude to people who genuinely want to debate issues like women priests - and the way theologians like Hans Kung were treated; generally, the autocratic directions the Church has taken.
Having said that, I nearly converted, because there are certain aspects of Catholicism that were good for me - for example, the Good Friday service where you stand and kiss the head or feet of the crucified Christ; for someone like myself, quite cerebral and intellectual, the challenge of 'being there' with one's whole mind and body took me out of my head and asked me to be fully present. But I didn't convert, simply because I couldn't face my gay friends and my many friends in Africa and say that I've just joined an association that calls the first group 'objectively disordered' and forbids the second group the use of condoms even to prevent the spread of Aids.
