They are very sincere people, but in my view sadly misguided, as they read their Bibles with blinkers on, only noting the parts which happen to suit them and coincide with the system of belief which they have. There is abundant proof in the Bible that Jesus is the Son of God and part of the Godhead and that the Holy Spirit is also part of the Godhead -- that is, that God is Three in One. This the JWs dismiss completely. They not only do not believe in the Holy Trinity, but in their literature they emphasise the point by referring to the Holy Spirit with small letters. They have extracted certain verses in the Bible as being of extreme importance, one being Deuteronomy 12: 23, which is a prohibition against eating meat with the blood still in it, and extending this to the whole business of blood transfusions on the grounds that "the life of the body is in the blood". The result has been that some of their children have been allowed to die for want of a blood transfusion. They are also extremely preoccupied with the reference to the 144,000 servants of God who are sealed in Revelation 7: 4-8 and have taken this to mean that those who will be sealed in this way will be restricted to that number, whereas most believers accept that this is simplly a perfect number in Judaic terms, there being 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel, and that God is not hidebound by numbers and able to save completely all who come to Him (Hebrews 7:25). 144,000 is merely symbolic of a larger number than we can easily get our heads round. I admire their devotion and dedication, but I fear that it is all about winning their salvation through works, whereas Christians believe that Christ's atoning sacrifice is sufficient for them. I read a striking remark by the late Selwyn Hughes yesterday about those who seek to "work their way to Heaven". "This is," he writes, "like someone in debt for a million pounds trying to get the one to whom he is indebted to accept his resources of a few pence as being sufficient to clear the debt." Salvation, for the Christian, is through grace alone.

Years ago they left me a document called "One World, One Government" - it read like the stuff Herr Goebbels used to publish. One of the most Nazi documents it's ever been my misfortune to have to read and annotate.
Since then, I've always just told them that I'm sorry but I'm not superstitious and then shut the door - apart from one occasion which I've already written about but I'll repeat just once.

Many years ago, my next door neighbour (single mum of twins and a single girl by the age of 19) had problems when the twins were teething. Being a block of flats, I had problems with it too - ALL NIGHT LONG - screaming and crying. One night (actually, 3 in the morning) a knock on my door. There she is, looking stressed and wearing a totally see-through baby doll nightie and nothing underneath. (a fantastic looker too!). She said she was at her wits end so she came over for some coffee and a shoulder to cry on (hehehe :-) ). so, she came in, leaving the doors open so we could hear if things got worse. Time out for coffee and, eventually, large brandies.
7.30am tap, tap on the door. The JWs coming to convert. I went to the door and they told me who they were. At that point, my neighbour rushed back to her own flat, nightie flying right up in the air and showing every inch of her magnificent body. The JW woman said (looking very embarrassed) "How nice, your wife going to help with the screaming kids". Without thinking, I said "Oh, that's not my wife, that's my neighbour, she's been with me all nght".

Guess what!!!! They rushed out and NEVER returned.

BtW, as for letting your children die for religion, don't be so quick to cast nasturtiums ( :-) ). Abraham did!

Funny that, i have just had a Jehovah in my shop, she came in saying that she was interested in the fires i am selling, but first she said she would like me take a magazine (watchtower). She then left!
I was going to say that i was not interested in Jehovah's, but i was polite because i thought she may be a customer.

When she left I told my dad, and he said that if i had let him know he would have escorted her off the property regardless?
He then said any one who lets little children/babies die becuse their religion stops them from saving them is evil. ( i.e. not allowed blood transfutions) I agree, i wish i thought of that when she waas in my shop as she was talking about having long lives etc.!
Also what gives them the right to try and force people in to their religion.
I don't have a problem with Jehovah's if they left me alone and allowed children to live!
I would never sacrifice my children for my religion.

I think a better question is what do you think after you read the Watchtower.

Then you will be in a better position to answer that question.

Remember the people in Jesus day called him a drunkard and a glutton,

They said John the Baptist had a demon.

2 Cor 4:4 Satan will want to blind you, Don't let him.

Every time I go knock on someone's door to talk to them about the bible, I place my faith on the line, maybe the next person will have something better.

That hasn't happened.

Jehovas Witnessess are truly a honest and sincere people but their religions have many errors and inconsistancy in logic. I've met with them for over a year every month and their answers aren't alway the most logical. In fact their church will teach one thing and then totally teach the opposite thing. How can the truth be one thing on one day and totally opposite the next?

You are going to get a lot of negative comments on this one. Why does it matter what other people think? Does it make sense to you? If so, search it out a little more. I have read their magazines before. They seem to be informative. Whether you want to get involved is purely your choice from your heart, not anyone elses.
Have a great day! :)

My family were Witnesses when I was younger. (I am now an atheist) They believe in the bible but they get a little wacky when it comes to holidays and birthdays. When my Dad passed away my mom spent a lot of time with her family who were not witnesses. The whole congregation gave my poor mother hell for it. Not very admirable ya think?

I think that they're as misguided as any religious denomination. They tend to be the ones who come knocking on my door most often though. So I aim to displease by making them regret coming to my door. I would answer asking if they're here for the orgy. That's a great deal of fun if their ladies.
