If you are, then come to the Philippines, where you can keep extending your visa through a travel company for up to a year.
I pay around 220 usd to stay here for 1 year, I don't see my passport for that time and I don't need to see it coz I don't need it.
As far as being a tourist is concerned, after you've got over the initial 3 week on arrival hurdle, it's so good to be able to live here with no more problems for a year!!

I have a retirement visa and there are only a few small changes.. nothing that will have an effect but it seems that there are alot of people, in particular English teachers who will have problems.
