Anyone know of where to find a nice holiday cottage for a last minute weekend away? Need somewhere for Friday October 19th until the Sunday or possibly the Monday, within about 2 hrs drive of London. Only needs to sleep 2 to 4 people.

Having a nightmare trying to find anything which is available and not stupidly expensive....just want a quiet weekend away!

We've tried the large websites but they're a bit expensive and not much around for when we're looking at going......We've always used little independent places before but our usual ones arent available.

Try www.powells.co.uk
We booked near Tenby in South Wales & had a great time. There's loads of nice cottages there & at the right price although they generally book full weeks. I'm sure they'll help you though.

Tenby's a bit more than 2 hours from London but worth considering

I`ve noticed with alot of holiday cottages they only do weeks and not weekends youll be lucky to find one for weekends, look in the sun they usually have adverts on the back pages or check the net,or your local papers.

Why don't you jump on a ferry to France. Loads of places to stay really cheaply within a few minutes drive of the ferry port and you get to have great food too.
