I've read many comments claiming God does not stop murderers because that would take away their free will.

If God has the power to prevent it and does not, he is just as responsible as the murderer. Why is God murdering children? Doesn't that take away their "free will?"

Please explain how that is logical.

Thanks.

I see where you're coming from.

A child's free will to live is stolen by a murderer. But stopping the murderer from murdering would be taking away his free will. He chooses to do the things he does. No-one can claim that God is not a murderer, though, and anyone who tries to is a fool. I'm a Christian but I still know that he took lives - just look at the great flood, where almost all people were killed, and at all the people he smited. Only an idiot would say he was not a murderer. However, not preventing someone from killing someone else does not make him responsible. If that person never killed, but in their hearts had nothing to stop them, simply some greater being preventing them, they would never feel the burn of their actions - the guilt, the punishment, the pain - even though they have the heart that wants to do it. If you see someone drowning, but are unable to save them, does that make you a murderer?

I don't know how well i'm explaining it, i'm just trying to say it as I see it.

god is not real, that's why people get brutally murdered, raped, tortured, and all the other bad things that humans go through. I'm not implying that if a god did exist, that none of these things would not be present. What it really is, is that nobody in this world wants to take responsibility for their actions. Why not dig deeper into someones criminal actions and say: "If we were a society that didn't have racism, religious fanatics, corrupt politicians and such, then maybe people wouldn't get so angry at life and lash out at innocent people, especially children." If we as humans care so much about our fellow man, then how come we as a species have not eradicated poverty, disease, and all the other things that make us hate each other? I guess in the old days, about 2006 years ago, when "jesus" was invented, the goal of those loons was to try to make everyone come together under one cause or belief. Since then, that "creation" has caused more deaths and hurt than any disease on this planet. Our will to do whatever we want is not a "god" given thing, it's something we earned as a life form on this planet. Everything has a will to do whatever it wants, be it good or bad. If people choose to use their free will to kill, then we should use our free will to judge them and punish them accordingly and stop trying to hide everything behind this god thing.

"Free will" refers to the individual's right to make wise and unwise decisions. So, no, the free will of the children who were murdered would not have been stolen from them at the time. As far as "God murdering children", this is no more the case than if a beloved partner chose, instead of loving you in return, chose to reciprocate with resentment and hatred. Surely you wouldn't conclude that you are hating yourself simply because you chose for their will to be done as opposed to attempting to force them to love you in return.

A person's behaviour and actions are determined by:
1- The way he has been brought up
2- His genes which affects his/her personality
3- The circumstances in which he has grown up
4- His past experiences

So, where is free will?
A theist may say that he should find the right way inspite of these factors.
Then I say:
Why is he in such a disadvantageous situation than the ones who has been brought up decently, has good genes, has grown up in decent conditions etc...
The concepts "sin,heaven,hell,..." seem irrational.
The self (personality) is just a bunch of memories.
That's why Buddhism is rational because it tells that "self" is just an illusion

The laws of nature have been established to keep order and predictability in the world. God usually works within the laws that God established, though sometimes strange things happen.

You are asking a complex but good question. Some of the reasoning is beyond this section. But mainly, God has entrusted the welfare of this world to man himself. It is really man that is failing. God does not intervene without being asked. Most people, even good ones, do not rely on God for help, but look to other people, who fail them. God is only as distant as we make him. I have been in situations where I asked for help and situations where I haven't. He really "moved" when I asked him for help, so it is possible for God to intervene.

"If God has the power to prevent it and does not, he is just as responsible as the murderer."

Why? If i for example give money to a bum but the bum decides that he'll spend it on booze then it's not my fault.

Typical american mentality, it's always someone elses fault. Start taking resposibility for your own actions.

There is a mistake in the question: "Free Will." Allah alone, has Free Will, He Wills whatever He likes and it will always happen as He wills. We have something called, "Free choice." The difference is that what Allah "Wills" always happens and what we choose may or may not happen. We are not being judged on the outcome of things, we are being judged on our choices. This means that at the core of everything will always be our intentions. Whatever we intended, is what we will have the reward for. Each person will be judged according to what Allah gave them to work with, how they used it and what they intended to do with it.

As regards the actual "Judgment Day" - Allah tells us that everything we are doing is being recorded and not a single tiny thing escapes from this record. Even an atom's weight of good will be seen on the Day of Judgment and even a single atom's weight of evil will be seen too.

The one who will bring the evidences against us will be ourselves. Our ears, tongue, eyes and all of our bodies will begin to testify against us in front of Allah on the Day of Judgment. None will be oppressed on that Day, none will be falsely accused.

He could have put everyone in their respective places from the very beginning, but the people would complain as to why they were thrown in Hell without being given a chance. This life is exactly that; a chance to prove to ourselves who we really are and what we would really do if we indeed had a free choice.

Allah Knows everything that will happen, but we don't. That is why the test is fair.

How do you know He *HASN'T* prevented murders? How do you know that a greater good won't come out of the murder?

His only begotten Son was horribly tortured and crucified a criminal's death and He didn't preven that. Can you see the greater good that came out of that? ~_^ God bless.
