A headache (medically known as cephalalgia, sometimes spelled as cephalgia) is a condition of pain in the head; sometimes neck or upper back pain may also be interpreted as a headache. It ranks amongst the most common local pain complaints.

Headaches have a wide variety of causes, ranging from eye strain, sinusitis and tension to life-threatening conditions such as encephalitis, meningitis, cerebral aneurysms and brain tumors. When the headache occurs in conjunction with a head injury the cause is usually quite evident; however, many causes are more unclear. The most common type of headache is a tension headache. Some experience headaches when dehydrated, or suffering from caffeine withdrawal symptons.

Treatment of uncomplicated headache is usually symptomatic with over-the-counter painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen, although some specific forms of headaches (e.g. migraine) may demand other, more suitable treatment.

It could be a number of things:

First, make sure you're getting enough food and water. Dehydration is a very common cause of headaches. Not having enough food and not getting a good balance of vitamins and minerals could cause headaches.

Stress and sleep deprivation can also cause headaches. A long sleep and a good laugh might help if this is the cause.

If those aren't the sources of your problem, you might want to have an eye examination. Sometimes difficulties in vision can cause eye-strain headaches. This is a common cause of every-day headaches.

If none of the above works, see your doctor. There could be something else, or perhaps more serious, that's going on.

I treat people with headaches of all kinds every day in my clinic. Most common cause I have seen is muscle tension. If you are in school an studying alot or anything that alters you posture, you are prone to headaches. I am in a special group of chiropractors that cranial problems such as headaches. I suggest going to one of these doctors and talk to them about your problem and see what they say. Go to www.sorsi.com to find a doctor near you, they are all over the U.S. If you are in Minnesota near the Twin Cities, email me or just email me if you need more specific information.

Hi there.
I've suffered from the same thing for years and it can be caused by something as simple as hormones, orange juice or even aged cheese.
Medications such as aspirin can even cause a rebound headache.
Regardless of the situation, you do need to check with a medical professional and go over your symptoms.
If they are continuing or growing worse, it can become a serious problem or even be a symptom of something else.
Be on the safe side and good luck.

Do you wear glasses? I found that when I started working more on a computer I strained my eyes and had such bad headaches at night I couldn't do anything. I now wear glasses and It has helped a lot. I don't get those headaches anymore.

Could be pressure on your brain or your brain swelling...or it could be a build up of lactic acid at the base of your head...

It could also maybe be the way you rest your head when you sleep (is your pillow too high/low... too soft/hard

Go see your doctor asap....

(another trick u can try.... SEX is a good cure fo headaches....because ur body releases natural antibodies and hormones that repair your body...)
So next time someone says they dont want sex because they have a headache... give them the good news!
