Yes there are so many saints in Islam.

At the first stage after the prophet are the 12 Imams of Shia who are prophet's grand sons.

After that are the people who follow the prophet exactly, the sinless ones, their corps remains as it was.

Muslims dont have saints because it does not support those things. At the same time there are lot of great personalities who is famed for their devout to Allah. They followed the true teachings and reached the highest level they can achieve. Cult and such things are unknown to Islam. Because in Islam the greatest saint and cult is the one who follows the teachings of the Prophet and believe that Allah is the only God and there is no other to worship. A true Muslim will be always a blessings to a society and he will never be a terrorist.

Some of the more knowledgeable and pious companions and family of the Prophet (pbuh) are honored in much the same way as saints, but Muslims pray only to God. These companions and household (sahaba and ahyul bayt) of the Prophet (pbuh) are a part of Islamic history, and we may look to them as examples for certain issues, but no man or woman is higher in status before God, except in piousness.

I don't know of any corpse cults among Muslims.

Saints? Hm.. we have many prophets. Muhammad, Isa (Jesus), Daud, Sulaiman, Nuh, Musa (Moses), Ibrahim (peace be upon them) just to name a few.

A cult developed around unrotting corpses?! Err, I doubt it! Just out of curiosity, what cult is that? Sounds creepy.

*edit*
Oh no no, we don't worship corpses! That is so haram (forbidden in Arabic). We don't even worship our prophets, as we only worship and pray to the One and Only Allah. However, we have great respect for our prophets (peace be upon them) and we are encouraged to emulate their good behaviour and habits, and sometimes their appearance (Muhammad (pbuh) was known to have kept a beard so some Muslim men grow a beard).

sorry in Islam we only have apostles and Messengers(Prophets).

sugar, u need to make one thing very clear to urself and that is Muslims do not bow down before a mortal. they should only bow down and worship and pray to God. and bowing in front of mortals dont get anyone anything. it is only God that will help. this is about muslims and it is their faith, yet others have their choice and freedom to religion.

There are no saints in Islam or Muslims.

No one but God can determine what is in the hearts of men and women so no one can declare himself a saint.

Unfortunately, there IS a cult among some Muslims, especially in India and parts of South Asia and Africa where they worship rotting corpses. These places are known as 'Durgahs' and are places of filth and 'shirk' or Association of partners to God. They are innovations and have no place in Islam, being strictly prohibited by the Qur'an and the last Prophet (p)

The people buried in these 'Durgah's' were Muslim who preached Islam during their lifetime but the ignorant masses to whom they preached did not give up their culture and absorbed it into Islam.

The most prominent among the corpse worshippers are Naqshabandi and Barelvis, who claim to have secret knowledge of Islam and make a ton of money from this pshycological trap.

Almost all of the corpse worshippers also try to justify their practice as being Islamically approved by translating the Qur'an as they see suitable to their cause.

May Allah guide them.

Hope this helps.

There are NO saints in islam. no Prophet from Adam to Muhammad ever mentioned saints. Those who say there are are probably shia, who have gone far astray. 90% of muslims are sunni, and the shia are a cult only really found in iraq and iran.

I'm really surprised at the Muslim's responses so far. In fact, Islam most certainly believes in Saints and they are mentioned in the Holy Qur'an several times. There are those called Wali-ullah which is a Saint as you would consider. The literal translation is Friend of God. There are also Awliya... which is directly translated as a Saint. There are some Muslims that shun and actually deny the existence of saints because they conform to a stripped down version of Islam. They are free to do as they choose. However, those who seek a deeper, more meaningful spiritual existance and closeness to God will seek out the Saints of Islam to be guided by them. Some of them are also called Shaikhs... or Shaikh-ul-Kamil which means a Perfected Guide. These are guides who have been given a "certificate of authenticity" which can be traced back to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Here are a couple of links that will show you who some of these Saints are:

http://www.sunnah.org/about/shaykh_muhammad_hisham_kabbani.htm

http://www.naqshbandi.org/chain/40.htm

In regards to the second part of your Question: In Islam, we believe that the body of a sinless person, a friend of God (i.e. wali-ullah, Awliya, Shaikh-ul-Kamil) or a Prophet or Messenger of God will not decay or be consumed by the Earth. In fact, his or her body will remain in a fresh state as if it just passed a way a day or so before. That is one of the signs that this was one of God's chosen people.

In Islam, Saints are not to be used as intercessors of God or to be worshipped. We can ask them to pray for us as their prayers may be more readily accepted due to their friendship and closeness to God, but we attribute all goodness and worship to God Amighty - The One and Only God.

peace

EDIT: PS I am not a Shia... those who say there are no saints are ignorant of Islam. I would suggest you ignore their comments because these are the same people that generally support terrorism as well and do not give a very good picture of Islam. I'm writing this because one very rude person just sent me a very rude email accusing me of being a Shia because i stated the fact that saints do exist in Islam... his name is abdulaziiz. shame on him.
