Absolute rubbish, what a load of bullshit people believe about this country!
I'm a Brit who has lived here for 14 years, and has travelled all over the world, mostly third world countries, such as this, and I can tell you 'definitively' that this is the safest country I've ever been to.
It's beautiful and friendly, and frustrating sometimes ( they think they know what they're doing), and if it wasn't for the stupid national press publishing ridiculously dramatic bullshit that doesn't affect more than 0 . 25 % of the population, no-one around the world would think bad of the place.
The worst thing for tourism in this country is the damn newspapers.
The other problem here is that the locals believe anything they see on tv or in the press, so what hope do we have to advance as far as tourism is concerned?

Security. There was this news about a month ago about a man who was found out to be smuggling chemical elements for explosives, as well as materials for making an explosive. It caused a major uproar in the country and security has been super tight ever since.
