where im from our local tatooist will actually give you an appointment for you tattoo then you can buy a cream from him that you put on the area about 3 hours before and this numbs it so when he actually does the tatoo you feel no pain at all you still feel the needle but no pain i should imagine you can get same from most reputable outlets worth finding out first dont you think

Yes tattoos do hurt, but how much it hurts depends on your pain threshold and where you have it. I've had a few tattoos on my upper arms, wrist, the top of my foot and on my calve. The most painful one was on my foot, and the least painful was my wrist. A lot of people say wrist tattoos are very painful - but mine hardly hurt at all, so it is different for everyone

The best thing to do is if you decide to get a tattoo done, explain to the tattooist it's your first one, and they'll be understanding and let you take a break if you need to. Also - might be worth for your first tattoo going for something small.

There is pain involved no matter where you get it but some places are worse than others. Boney areas hurt worse. But after a few minutes you get "used" to the pain. I have 2 both in the same area but on different legs..the big one hurt like h*ll the smaller one was not bad at all. Make sure know exactly what you want and where you want it before you go. Good luck and have fun with it.

Yeah it hurts but for some reason I want more!

Obviously some places hurt more than others - it depends on how much pain you can stand. Sit back relax have a conversation with the tatooist and before you know it - a lovely finished tatoo.

p.s do not pick the scabs unless you want to go and have it re-coloured

it hurts in some places and not so much in others ribs are a ton of pain anyways what I wanted to say is as you plan for a tattoo you pick the right picure you pick the right spot just be prepared for it too hurt mayve it wont hurt as much as you thought but regardless please remember if you go in there and you scream to high heaven the tattoo artist will stop and tell you to come back when you can handle it so you will just have a line wherever he tattooed you so do your best to prepare yourself this is something that will be on your body for-ev-er so you want this to be perfect good luck

From someone who has only facial skin left untattoo'd.. I would definatly say that the most painfull place for a tattoo would be on the side, just below the ribs. (Between the hip and rib). Considering I fell asleep getting my entire back done, and when I got this particular place done, I had to tell the artist to stop for a break due to the pain.

Your skin is being stabbed 1000's of times per second by multiple needles. It won't tickle. The amount of pain depends on the person and the part of the body being tattooed. If the pain is a concern then don't bother because part of the excitement and process of body mods is the pain. It is an experience.

Before my tattoo I questioned lots of people and had very strange responses. Most women said no and most men said yes!!! The best description of the pain I was given was from a bouncer friend of mine and he said it felt like a hot knife being dragged over your skin. Yes, it hurts but it's bearable and apart from the one on my ankle (which throbbed for days) I found that the minute the needle stopped, the pain stopped.

I've got two tattoos, one on my hand and one on my arm. I don't think they hurt at all. I've got a very high tolerance for pain, though.

The cross tattoo on my arm cost me $150. The tat on my hand cost $75. That was back in the late '90s. Prices could also depend on where you live.

Not really, its more uncomfortable than painfull, feels like an irritating scratch but the finished product is worth it as long as you go to a good artist and its done to a high standard. Think long and hard you decide to put any ink on your skin because remember its there for life!!
