sorry, but i have NEVER come across muslims like that. may be the poverty or illiteracy or nature of the country they live in makes them do that. do u think a person who cheats and does fraudery will remain and call himself a muslim?.

An-Nahl | 128 verses | The Bee سورة النحل
Sura #16 | Makkah
90 Lo! Allah enjoineth JUSTICE AND KINDNESS, and GIVING to kinsfolk, and forbiddeth lewdness and abomination and wickedness. He exhorteth you in order that ye may take heed.

Al-Maeda | 120 verses | The Table Spread سورة المائدة
Sura #5 | Madina
8 O ye who believe! Be STEADFAST WITNESSES for Allah in EQUALITY, and let not hatred of any people seduce you that ye deal not justly. DEAL JUSTLY, that is nearer to your duty. Observe your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is Informed of what ye do.
9 Allah hath PROMISED those who believe and do GOOD WORKS: Theirs will be FORGIVENESS and IMMENSE REWARD.

btw, i know many people who are not muslims yet they cheat a lot -- so what do u beleive will happen if they cheat?.

A Muslim whether devout or not will be responsible for his own actions, whether it is Ramadan or not is not a matter here. During Ramadan, if somebody do good things then he will be rewarded in multiples. It depends on the person how much he understand about Islam? How much strong is his iman? If his believe in Allah is strong, you cannot expect him cheating others during and after Ramadan. So it is your iman(belief) that counts, your dressings and big beards wont make you a devout Muslim and dont be fooled by the Islamic dress of the person. Allah doesnt look at your dressings, he looks in your heart to find what you are really is ?

Nice question!

Let me begin by saying that my parents are devout Moslems but I'm not. But then I don't cheat either.

However, I've noticed that quite a few indulge in cheating or fibbing and the likes. One instance that I'd like to cite here is that during Ramadan Muslims are enjoined to give 'Zakat' (Charity). In this regard, many Muslims (including priests and 'beggars')throng our house and I've witnessed that many of them use foul language and tell lies and fibb. This is a routine affair for them.

I once charged an 'Imam' when I caught him taking donation for his local mosque from my father twice. He was fasting. So, this is the truth but then that's not the whole picture.

There are good Muslims who hardly indulge in any unethical acts even throughout the year.

Devout or non-devout, Ramadan or normal times it is the natural tendency of cheats to cheat. Good people never cheat whether they are devout muslims or non muslims.

Of course there are devout Muslims who cheat. I'm not sure you can be considered devout if you cheat on purpose but it could be easy to forget or mistake the time. It's not so much that anything horrible will happen. Muslims just want to please God because it is right.

Here we go again, naivety knows no bounds. My Muslim girlfriend a Brit, told me, if the nasty kindergarten boss lady insists that her Daughters (too young for fasting) have to eat all their lunch before leaving the table she would break fast and gobble it all up behind her back. People are people, mothers are mothers. She puts her children before her religion. Last year she went to Mecca and vowed to ware her head scarf from now on, this summer was too hot and even that reason was enough to make her reconsider. So not all Muslims are extreme. Any Brit here should know we've lived around Muslims most our lives and to us they were all just Pakis, Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims. Sorry to offend but maybe it was better when people were just ignorant racists. Maybe not. Anyway this girl is my token Muslim and me her token puff, so I won't hear a bad word said against her.

If any Muslim cheated during Ramadan, then they wouldn't be devout.

According to the holy Quran, anyone who cheats on Ramadan will be dealt with by Allah in the afterlife. His or her misdeed is already written and recorded by the angels.

Peace.

Surely it's the less devout ones who cheat?
