I am an Aussie living in the USA, I MISS AUSTRALIA SOOOOO MUCH!!!

Australia is honestly the most beautiful country in the world. The things that I took for granted such as the friendly people is what I miss the most. It is funny while American's love there country every person that I have met tells me how much they want to go to Australia (and how much they LOVE my accent!!!)

While people have said that we need to get rid of our Prime Minister I strongly disagree, he is working for us, we have the best health care system in the world, we support everyone from the uni student, the single mother, the disabled person and the elderly the list is endless. While people say that he is (for lack of better words) sucking up to the USA, he has too, have you ever considered that if we went to war and we did not have the USA by our side that there is absolutely NO HOPE!!

Contrary to popular belief we do not treat our aboriginals badly, while yes a lot of them are in a bad place at the moment we are doing all we can to better their situation. I find that a lot of American’s bring up this topic with me, I think that they forget about their own past, look at the Indians and the African American’s that suffered at the hand of their ancestors. Together we are trying to better everyone’s situation.

Some of the things that I never thought were actually real that you see in movies, such as all the poor people living on the streets begging for money, I never new that people really lived off the streets, I had never seen it before.

I love traveling it is the best way to bring you down to earth, it has opened my eyes in ways that you can only imagine. Although I can't wait to get home (4 weeks!!! YAY!!)

I truly highly recommend that people visit Australia, you will never experience anything like it. We say that we are the lucky country and we are.

P.S. We have the best slang ever!!!!

Australia would be a much better Country if they had never left the great British Empire... Still, at least the Queen is still in charge over there to keep all the convicts and sheep russlers in check...

Australia will be amuch better country over the coming months when the greates team in the world and the inventors of world Cricket, England come down and gloriously whoop Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath to all parts in retaining the Ashes...

I will say one thing in Australia's favor - they do produce some half decent football (soccer) players. James Wesolowski, Danny Tiatto, Paul Henderson and Patrick Kisnorbo in particular. Again, another example of the Motherland's influence...

"P.S. We have the best slang ever!!!!" - Sorry MONS... The best slang in the world is Cockney Rhyming Slang from the good old East End of London

I wouldnt be the best person to answer your question, for I have lived in Aus all my life and have never been to any other country. Nevertheless, I have always felt safe here, I have enjoyed my life and I take advantage of all the glorious things Australia has to offer. People are so friendly here. There is so much to see here. People are so caring here. Australia is also such a multicultural country. There are so many interesting places to go here. Is Australia the best country in the World. I wouldn't be the best person to answer that question so, ill let you decide...

Not only the best but also a lucky country.
all the major cities are fabulous.
Country side,...... fantastic. big diversity in fauna.
Many bushes. Thank God the most "pricky" one isn't in Australia.
It lives in America.
As far the convicts that someone said above, It makes no sense any more.
Australia is a multiculturalistic society. More ethnicities than in UN.
Canada comes close to Australia but ,.......... TOO fcuking cold. Prefer the hot climate of downunder and its fantastic beaches.
Ok.....somebody may say that there are sharks.
BIG DEAL. Much more sharks(thousands, I should say) are eaten by people, every year, than people eaten by sharks.
It is a country that you 'll never never know if you never never go.:)

Since the political - economical situation in my country (Venezuela) is inbearable, I've been looking to migrate for a couple of years, and after much deliberation and investigation, I chose Australia. Over 15.000 of my fellow countrymen are already there and the feedback I've been receiving from some of them I know are ALL very positive.
I applied for a Permanent Resident's Visa, and I'm supposed to receive the approval shortly. The process lasted one year.

YES! Australia is the best country in the world. There is the relaxed lifestyle, laidback attitude of the locals, the beaches, multiculturalism, the weather, the shopping - the list is endless.

We have so much freedom and can feel safe in our own country.

Well, not being an Aussie and never having been there myself I can't say for certain, but Aussie's rule! You seem to have a pretty cool and very beautiful country. Lots of righteously cool nut jobs and other fine folks have come from there. Keep on being the excellent people that you are, and maybe get a new Prime Minister while you're at it.

Do you really think an Australian is going to answer "no" to that question?
I do disagree with MONS however, John Howard is doing his utmost to get Australians to pay for healthcare (because the states do that it's safe for now), he advocates user-pays for university students, he wants to get rid of the minimum wage for unskilled workers and abolish unions.
All these things are the ideal of conservative governments.
He is trying to get us like the USA where nothing is free or subsidised and if that happens, God help us, because then the class division in this country will be very pronounced.

Australia is God's own country. That's the start and finish of it.

Absolutely_Fabulous_78 said that the British Queen still runs Australia. NOT TRUE. She is just a figurehead and has no power at all. She's just a quaint leftover from our colonial past
