St. Paul.
Here is the Jew among Jews.
Pharisee among Pharisees.
A scholar in both Hebrew and Roman as well as being a Roman citizen. He had a huge zeal and passion to hunt down Christians and on the road to Damascus was thrown off his horse and converted.
Not only did his alliegance go the opposite way, it went the opposite way with just as much passion and devotion. So much that he spent (I think) 40 years travelling, teaching and establishing churches. He would then end up to write almost a third of the New Testament.
God really knows how to choose them. =^)

Mary - mother of Jesus - because I have started to find the truth about who she really was.
Sorry the bible story does not hold together for me. If it were true she was a 13-14 year old peasant girl - who would have believed her story about god making her pregnant - imagine that happening today.
If Jesus was of the line of David, and Joseph was not the father than Mary must have been of the line of David - if that were so then we know who she was - the Daughter of the High Priest of Jerusalem, wife Herod's eldest son Antipater (executed by Herod for treason) and mother to the true last King of the Jews - I am a big fan of Graham Phillips and his book The Marian Conspiracy which questions the bibilcal story and presents a soundly researched and much more acceptable story. It's not going to appeal to those of whose faith blinds them to the truth - but it has helped me by getting rid of the fantasy stories in the bible and replacing them with a real believable background to the teachings - and the remarkeable role that was played by Mary.

The Apostle Paul. He was a learned man, who was following the proper teaching of Judaism, in his persecution of Christians. When Jesus appeared to him, as Saul, he was instantly blinded, since Christ now dwells in unapproachable light.
When he became a Christian, he led the way in spreading God's Word. He didn't just tell people stories, but encouraged them to to continually taking in "accurate" knowledge. He didn't promote the current idea that only the elite needs to know the whole Bible, preach the Bible, and teach it. Everyone he brought into Christianity became ministers of Christ. Also, parents taught children, not Sunday Schools.

The totally anonymous and creative people who wrote what found it's way into the Bible...also the folk who chose to compile a Bible at all and who chose what was to be included, what was to be excluded and what needed heavy editing or needed to be completely rewritten to make any kind of intelligible story at all. All these people interest me the most and I don't think we know enough about them and what their motives were.

I belive Moses is my favorite. Because he was supossed to be the next king of Egypt and forsaken everything for the Glory of the God. He was a proper child, want to do all by him self and achive a good teaching. Killed an egyptean with all his strenght, and was forced to run in the desert. And there God meet him and sent him again in Egypt. And he went down there only with a root and overcame an entire nation, because God was with him. Is my favorite, because many times i do wrong too and i take things on my own without asking God, but after that i remeber about Him. And i know that God has grace for me

Jesus - of course
Ecclesiastes, a great though cynic philosopher
Pontius Pilate, because he recognised the Son of God, which was more than the crowd did, and played with the crowd (though did not dare to anger it - but anyone who had dealt with a crowd will easily understand this).
Mary Magdalene, showing wonderful behaviour and feelings in spite of her previous activity (not that I ever thought that whores were worse people than anyone else)
Judas - he has to sell the Son of God, whom he loves, so that the Scripture can come true. How much worse can this get?

Paul (Saul of Tarsus) because I'm amazed at how powerful personalities are the same back then as they are today: they get their opinions and beliefs across and accepted, despite their background. A guy who never met Jesus takes it upon himself to write letters to early christian communities to define matters of faith and belief? I know he consulted with the apostles but ... wow ... it just blows my mind that his stuff is included in the bible. One guy's opinion -- a guy who never met Jesus!

King Solomon. Because he was the wisest of men. He wrote the most interesting books.
btw to "Leshy" I think you are talking about Lot who slept with his daughters not Job. Correct me if I'm wrong. Job's children died.

ecclesiastes because he seems like a deep thinker, and because the beginning of his verse states that the more knowledge a man knows the more sorrow he knows. It's a statement that clashes with man's desire for wisdom. His book has a "dust in the wind" feel to it.
