Jesus said it was easy...all it takes is apparently a "mustard seed" worth of faith. Martin Luther, Calvin, Billy Graham, Pat Robertson....all these pious men of god lack enough faith?

JT, you are right of course, I was waiting for some of the xians to tell me it was 'just metaphor'...although if you read the entire section in context, it seems pretty literal to me.

OK Fatboy...lets give them a reason...how about all the xians start to pray for Mt Ararat to squash Mecca....that would show whose god is real.

uhm "Sawyer"
Never heard of any of them. Why? Are they famous for getting together and shifting the Rockie Mountains over a couple feet or something?

Interesting choice of a handle and atavar....a grifter/con-man, seems like a good fit for a fundie

Oh, no. You have it all wrong.

The Bible didn't really say that. Well, it says that, but it doesn't mean that.

If people could actually move mountains, it would mean that. But, since they cannot, it is a metaphor for obstacles, not physical mountains.

See? You just have to know how to interpret the words.

Make sense now?

Here is the way the Bible works: If it can be demonstrated, it is literal, if it can not, it is figurative. And, that's how people can claim it is historically or factually accurate.

The inaccuracies are "metaphors."

Faith in the bible is not only blind, it is stupid.

I wouldn't say they lack faith. What Jesus said was a metaphor. The faith to move mountains stats from a desire as small as a mustard seed. To some degree ,the men you mentioned did enough for the people that look up to them and some went awry. I wouldnt exactly put Pat Robertson in an esteemed list.

i would not say they lack faith. What Jesus suggested became right into a metaphor. the religion to circulate mountains stats from a desire as small as a mustard seed. to three degree ,the adult men you reported did sufficient for the persons who seem as much as them and a few went awry. I wouldnt precisely placed Pat Robertson in an esteemed record.

Because no Christian in history has ever had a good enough reason to move a mountain.

Ideals ...nobody can ever live up to them and all they do is make you feel like you aren't good enough. It probably accounts for a lot of the self-hatred found among Christians not to mention the hatred of others who similarly don't and could never come up to scratch regarding Christian ideals.

The earth has been created by God. If we ask to move one mountain from its place where God has placed, its against God's will and will never be answered.
God knows what we need in our life.

They have the faith to do that. Many "mountains" have been moved by prayer, they are just not the physical ones.

You may have mountains in your life which are moved by prayer. A prayer for a loved one which is answered is a mountain which was moved. amen
