How would it be idol worship? They don't worship the wall...they leave prayers at the wall. Praying to Yhwh (the Jewish god) is not the same as worshiping another god/idol...

Well, no, I liken it to visiting a church, cornfield, riverside... and holding a rosary, prayer beads, chanting in front of home based statue of Buddha..

It is not idol worship when you are using items as frames of reference, a place of refuge, a place to focus, and in this case a wall to ""wail"" on and you are worshipping whatever Deity you believe in.

It is when these items replace the Deity or become more important than worshipping the Deity, that it becomes idol worship. Your focus is on the idol not the Deity.

The Deity begs to be worshipped everywhere and everywhen by everybody.

They aren't worshiping the wall. They see that as a holy place since that is where Gods temple was. I would love to go and pray there and walk where Jesus walked on this earth.

that was the old temple...where you were to go and pray...they did not build it as a single wall to pray to...and idol is something built in the image of God or heavenly things...
