Yes it does stop - takes several months and differs per person - Eventually the smell will bother you and the desire will ween - you won't even want to smoke no matter what situation you are in. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs that there is and your body is used to it and the thing about smoking is that craving for a cigarette all of the time - it is not just a physical addiction - to me, it is more mental even.. the habit - the thought.. that is what is going to take some time to go away. Your body is no longer addicted - that is over in just a few days but our minds and our memories - that is something you are going to have to re-train and it will take some time.

But - you can do it - quitting smoking was the best move to ever make
:o)

For me, the one month mark was the worst. This is the point where your mind becomes quite creative in its endeavor to get nicotine. You just have to stay with it no matter what. It will get easier as time goes by.

You will find that cravings appear when you are going something that you associated with smoking. Once you get through that event, with out smoking, the craving decreases. Its almost like having to relearn everything all over again, but its worth it.

I quit 16 years ago. The last time I wanted a smoke the craving was triggered by the smell of a trash fire. That should tell you something.

Well the urges should start lessening in about 6 months but you most likely will have these urges the rest of your life. Think of it like loseing a loved girlfriend it will hurt more in the begining than later. I hope this helps...

They will pass.

My parents quit smoking after smoking for well over 30 years and I watch them walk by cigs or people smoking now without even flinching.

They always say they wish they had never started in the first place.

If they can do it, you can.
