I seem to be getting fairly simple minded answers.

Consider it this way...

Why should we not hold the individuals who are perpetrating senseless acts of violence and oppression responsible for their actions? If they lack the morality to discern right from wrong why support them? If they know right from wrong but, due to bloodlust, hatred, or misanthropy pursue an agenda of systematic human rights violations and, occasionally, rape and murder, why should they not be arrested?

Any thinking, moral, or upright military man would have refused service in Iraq. Thats just reality.

Oh.. and please stop writing about how they're fighting for our "freedom".. thats insipid beyond words.

There has not been a war fought in 150 years in the name of american freedom. No one has died protecting american freedom since the civil war.

I understand that there are those who serve honorably. I understand that there are those who do not know the brutality of their fellow servicemen. Perhaps they can be forgiven for turning a blind eye? For putting american blood above arab blood?

The people of the US occupied countries ,such as Iraq or Afghanistan never supported your troops.Nor did they support the previous ruling regimes or terrorist organisations.None of these governments are meant for the welfare of the people. It is only experience in conducting warfare that these people need to drive away your oppressing troops from their beloved motherland.

The people in the other countries are provided with distorted news from the mass-media.

Most of the US citizens also receive biased news and don't use their common senses to interprete it correctly. Many of them seem to have worked out what's really going on, but again, isn't it a bit difficult to believe, for example, that MY father/brother/husband is a lot different in Iraq than what he is at home and has probably committed dozens of rapes and murders that have gone unrecorded.

If your troops meet crushing defeats in each of the places they are presently occupying, then your government will have no choice but to use your troops against YOURSELVES.If it works that way you'll see how the opinion of these people change.

I bet you're related to one of those filthy hippies who spat at the Vietnam veterans back in the 70's...

- "If they lack the morality to discern right from wrong why support them?"
Morality has no place in war... get that into your head. The moment soldiers start having morality issues they become paralyzed and incapable of doing their job (though that may be precisely what you want...get them having issues while the Islamists gut them down).

- "If they know right from wrong but, due to bloodlust, hatred, or misanthropy pursue an agenda of systematic human rights violations and, occasionally, rape and murder, why should they not be arrested?"
Rape and senseless murder of civilians and mistreatment of prisoners (I assume you speak of Abu Gharaib and similar stupidities) are to be denounced and the individuals responsible should be brought to justice. Nonetheless not all soldiers are guilty of this, and certaintly not the majority... and only a really brainwashed person would believe this.

"... Perhaps they can be forgiven for turning a blind eye? For putting American blood above Arab blood?"
The last part is the most retarded statement I have ever heard. They ARE supposed to put the blood of their own above those that attempt to kill them. Would you rather that they just stand there while the terrorists kill them hmm???

Look if you have problems with this retarded war then take it up with the stupid government and politicians who sent those young people there in the first place and placed them in harm's way. Get your troops home then if you want them out of that war.
But those soldiers are your fellow citizens and if you really do not support them or even care about them then you are a traitor to your country and your fellow citizens (though of course this doesnt matter to you does it?).

Please go to Vietnam, North Korea, Iran, Somalia, Manymar[Burma], but leave Your Computer, as the Free Expression that You take for Granted in the Free World is not Allowed ! I support the Troops 100 % and I Dare You to go to a Communist Dictatorship Nation and Say Openly what You have Here against Their Regime ! There is actually a lot of good being done, that the Liberal Left Wing Media Refuses to Report so that They can Brainwash Idiots Like You to Watch the Commercials and Buy all the Products Advertised ! Have you ever been in the Military ? Didn't Think so. We Pull Out, Iran Conquers Iraq, and They get the Bomb. Will You be Happy then ? Israel will be "Wiped Off the Face of The Earth." That Goal has been clearly Stated.

No sir, your political spin and biased perception is not "REALITY", and anyone with even a limited ability to reason can see that. All of the stuff you posted above is OPINION, and not even a well informed one. I will not get into a debate with you on it because it would be a waste of my time. When you grow up and develop the ability to actually look at a situation critically and with a non biased eye, look the rest of us up. Until then, you will be stuck with a bunch of left wing retards agreeing with you between bong hits.
No, I don't like what is happening in Iraq, but your willingness to slander our military in a wholesale fashion is reprehensible, and in my OPINION borderline criminal. How dare you spout that crap like you are any type of authority. My son is a Marine and was nearly killed in Iraq, and he damn sure did not do it for nothing. He is a fine , principled intelligent young man, who serves in the company of fine men and women, whom you DO NOT know, and DO NOT have the right or capacity to judge. If you possess enough of an intellect to see the error of your thinking, or a conscience to apologize, don't bother, I don't want it.

For all your wordiness, you still don't get the simple point that those soldiers each have different characters and morals. United they are protecting the US. That would be you, me, and everybody else in the USA. So, while you sit at your computer you might want to think about all the things you take for granted- and I'm sure there are things you take for granted. They are making the sacrifice that you are too yellow to. You can have all of your idealistic thoughts, but I'll bet my last $50,000 that when you grow up, your views will change and you will have a tighter grip on reality. Until then, see ya. Been there and done that.

Well to eachs own you have a wright to your opinion.. But lets keep in mind who has spilled their blood to give you that wright . Like they say and (us) Americans reading your post must remember opinions are like @#$holes, everyone has one and like your opinion some of them stinks. But then again guess that would be my opinion to you. Unlike you I like my job well sorry that is if you have one. Ooops there that word again opinion. Something I will be able to look back on that you will never be able to is that lil 4yr old boy at the bus terminal standing in my path with a salute with more dedication and honor than you will ever place into anything you may accomplish in your wasted life. The cold, shivering, wet 80yr old refugee that I fed 3 days before she died from complications of having no medical care or hospital to go to, before me and my oppressive occupiers landed and over threw her and her people's dictator. I will always remember the places I have seen and friends I have made. Friend(a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter) Thought you made need help with that word. I don't see you having to many just call it a wild hunch or maybe a opinion... I cant honestly say any of us want to be in Iraq some of us may not see it as the wright thing to do but you wont see us sitting behind a computer screen cowarding either. But I am not mad at ya, actually I am going to try and ease your lil puny brain a lil since you are so upset and disturted on why (us) Americans wish to back our troops. First sugestion I recomend applying for the Taliban or Alquida. Dont be intimidated because you may look american, they have a section called rag head wanna be's you will fit wright in and I hear they have positions opening daily and if you apply now there is a bonus of 77 vigins. But make sure you read the fine print it is collectible only after one of us oppressive occupiers or murdering rapsists put a 7.56mm round in that lil pea brain of theirs. Or there is always option two if you dont want to stand behind Americas troops, feel free to stand in front of them. On final a note the extra points I think all or most of the people who read this will agree you can take the points and shove them up your....hmmm!

OF THE TROOPS FOR THE TROOPS!!!

No, Americans are not that brain-washed. But it seems you
might be, or have a problem with the foreign policies of the
Government we or I have voted for. It appears that you have
taken the sides of the enemy. As far as oppressive occupiers,
I guess we could turn a blind eye to the world and sit around and
wait for the crap to come to us on our own soil. God, here we
are fighting a people that thinks that if you kill someone that
does not believes as them, that they will end up in Heaven with
70 or 72 virgins. Or does that appeal to you?

Okay... lets compair your arguement to "the all Muslims are terrorists" conspiracy. Since by your support of your opening statement, the acts of few are justification to hold all by the same title. So, then you must agree that all Muslims are terrorists. That everyone with the last name of Manson is a mentally disturbed murderer and that everyone in politics is a child molester.

Please don't ask us to expand our knowledge base without doing the same and considering your agruement before you speak... or in this case type.

I sign paperwork every month for the award of the Army Good Conduct Medal. It is awarded for doing honorable service to the United States Army. Not everyone gets it. But just because one person in a company, battalion, brigade, etc.... does something that precludes them from the award doesn't disqualify everyone.

No, not every service member does honorable service. But not everyone has honor, courage, bravery or the willingness to provide selfless service to a much bigger idea than themself.

I am a five time combat veteran with over 23 years of honorable service to this nation. And your thoughts that people shouldn't the military.... Oh please.... we provide numerous opportunities for people who come from all walks of life to change thier lives for the better.

When I retire in a few years, I will do so knowing that I helped to provide you the opportunity to have your opinion and express your views.... and I had the honor and dignity to respect that... no matter how much I disagree with you.....

Damn isn't America a great nation!! And yes, your welcome.

Your question can be turned around and used against you: "Iraq's previous government comprised oppressive occupiers at best and murdering rapists at worst. Why would anyone support them?"

And note that you call "turning a blind eye" a form of support -- so if your call is to ignore Iraq, by your own principles you are also a rapist and occupier.

(With regard to soldiers who commit atrocities, I sympathize with your position a little -- I sometimes wish, after reading about them, that we could try them and hand them over to Iraqi authorities for sentencing, just as a deterrent. But the way you structured your question just paints you into a corner of your own devising -- be careful.)
