Eat a diet high in calories. But watch your sugar intake. Too much can be very bad for you. Especially if your family is prone to diabetes
Please don't be so anxious to gain weight. I was like you. I am 6'3 and I had always been 110lb since I was 18 till I was in my late 30's Now I am 44 and have trouble keeping under 200lb. I look terrible with a huge pot belly. Be happy with what you got. There are people out there that would kill to be as thin as you. I know you want to look more hefty, I did too. My suggestion is to try weight training as your muscles build so will your weight And your body will look good without looking fat.

To be honest, four meals a day isn't crap to gain weight, and I'm guessing you aren't eating the right things. I eat in upwards of 7 just to maintain my current weight. I've been skinny all of my life until I started working-out / bodybuilding. Let me tell you, there are NO quick fixes. It takes years of hard work. But anyway, your best friend is good food. Supplements will only help you if you already have a good base to start with.

No. High calorie high protein, high fat diets have the best chance. Also take a vitamin supplement and an acidophilus/bifidus capsule to make sure that you have the proper intestinal bacteria to digest, and use, the food.
Cut down on exercise for a while. Every excess 3500 calories of intake gains you a pound.
The anti-diet.

well i know that your thyroid gland controls your metabolism...since mine doesn't work i gain weight no matter what i do. so i have to take synthroid everyday to counteract that. it seems to reason that if you had your thyroid taken out or irradiated that you would gain weight. but i don't recommend it.

You don’t need surgery; you need to check your blood hormones, and get hormonal therapy.
