No, because Jesus said to love the sinner and hate the sin. We all are sinners. Jesus said that too. So what difference should it make to you if someone you consider to be a sinner dies? And who are you to judge sin? Judge not, lest ye yourself be judged, right? I should think it would be sinful then to rejoice in a fellow human's death, no matter what he's done. And excuse me, but why would God ask for your thanks that a non-Christian died? The right thing to do if you're a true Christian is to pray for that person, not be happy they're dead.

In Ezekiel 18:23, God says, "Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?" Also, 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wantiing anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." Since God does not rejoice in the death of the wicked, I do not think that he expects us to come to him and say, "Oh, thank you, God, for the death of this wicked man." That would be contrary to God's nature as revealed in the passages quoted above. Also, I am glad that you noted that the scripture said that we are to give thanks IN - and not FOR - all things. This means that when things go wrong, we should not say, "Thank you, God, for this bad thing!" but like Job when he lost all that was dear to him, we should say, "Thank you God that you are good, even though this has gone wrong." As Job put it, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." So the character of the person who dies is not reason for rejoicing. If it is a good person, give thanks IN SPITE OF your sorrow. If it is a bad person, then find something else to give thanks about in spite of that situation.

Well, I don't have a bible in front of me, but I think that verse is "In all things GOOD, give thanks to God. The key word being good. . Then you get into interpretation, you will get alot of different opinions from people, but please don't be persuaded by others. Just look into your heart and pray about it. God does not get joy from others suffering. So if you believe they are going to "Hell" (the fire kind), then God would not want you to give thanks for that. Also, we wont know what happen to that person until we die. Since we are all sinners, only God can judge us, so who knows, maybe that "sinner" really did get into Heaven. Sorry for the long speech, but hope that helps.

No it is not right to thank God for the death of non believers. The Bible says "IN all things give thanks to God", not FOR all things.
This is talking about how we need to thank God for what He has done, even when we are having troubles in our lives.

God rejoices if a sinner is saved and so should we. Giving God thanks is one thing but thanking Him for something which is against what He teaches is another thing.

I hear people all the time getting a nut off of the idea people will
go to hell. Something is seriously wrong with a person who
gets a SICK joy out of the fact someone will perish.

The angels in heaven rejoice if one sinner repents and I do not think anyone rejoices if one dies, especially one who is not saved.

Hello!! :o) I've been to many funerals in my life. I don't EVER recall ANYONE ever saying, "Thank you God that so-and-so is DEAD!!" [regardless of what people assumed the dearly departed's relationship was with God] Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)
