There are quite a few unknowns, but assuming it was a tree trunk about 12 to 15 feet in length, diameter about 8 to 10 inches, and of course, still green, it could have weighed anywhere from 400 to 800 pounds, possibly even more. (Just a crude guess.)

probably about 100 lbs, but being a carpenter, he could lift that weight with no problem. The romans didn't make prisoners carry the whole thing through town, just the crossbeam which would probably be about 8 feet long and 8 inches square

I can estimate that the beam he was carrying was at least 2.5 m long probably 3.0 m., and o.1 m. cross section. probably 0.2 m. square, with an average density of 0.8 gram/cm^3, that would bring the weight to approximately 20 Kg min. to 100 Kg. max.

not sure...but we do know it was a form of punishment ..so it was probably really heavy to lift up and carry....and it got to the point he was wore out and someone helped him with it!!
