I fast about every 2 years and typically lose 10-15 lbs. I don't fast for weight lose but it is a pleasant side effect. You have to be careful not to pig out when you break the fast or you will gain the weight back plus more. The fast I do is called the "Master Cleanser". If you live a fairly active lifestyle this may be difficult for you to do.

If you have set portions of food you eat every meal, cut it down by a quarter. Keep your mind off food by forcing yourself to do something or the other when you feel you must have a bite to eat. More often than not, food is used as a substitute for something else that is lacking.
You should get over the food craving and eat when you are absolutely hungry and even then do not eat till your are full.
That should get you down in about two weeks if you have just started out that is.

Weight is quite simple really, and so is weight management.
If you can keep a balanced checkbook you can lose or gain weight. You eat a certain amount of food in a day and you use a certain amount of energy in a day. If you eat more than you use you have excess, which turns into fat. If you use more than you eat you burn fat.
If you want to lose weight and not exercise than you have to cut food intake or balance the kind of food you eat. For instance, if you eat carbohydrates, which your body has to work exceptionally hard to transform into fat (from carbs through the Kreb's Cycle finally to fat) you will be better off than if you eat fat (which your body doesn't have to alter, but simply store).
If you want to lose weight, eat a balanced diet and eat less than you normally would... assuming your normal intake maintains your weight (if you are yo-yo-ing than altering your food intake won't necessarily alter anything).
Ideally to lose weight you should be eating some of the essentials and avoid unhealthy foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts. Limit meat intake, go for fish or poultry over red meat.
One of the number one ways to maintain good health is to make sure you are consuming enough water a day. I personally hate drinking straight water so I drown myself in concentrated orange juice.

How you got fat, must be how you get thin...meaning.....pple put on weight thru eating so in order to lose weight, you gotta watch what you eat...especially the calories and carbohydrates....human can survive withour food but not water...so go for a fruits and vege diet with clear soupy stuff instead of creamy soup. All salad dressing to be low fat. Sustain with some white meat boiled and all skin removed. Should lose around 3kg in 2 mths.

Consume less carbohydrates. No beer, soda, white bread, or white anything for that matter.
More vegetables and fibrous foods such as broccoli, beans, wild or brown rice. These help in that they require you to use up more energy in digesting them than they contain within themselves.
Keep the grease/fat intake in mind as well.
Fat free dairy products are good as they contain mostly protein.
Japanese say you should eat until you are 2/3 full. Your body takes 20-30 minutes to realize that you have indeed had enough to eat.

changing your eating habits....eat less and more sensibly, be more active. That's the only sure fire way to lose weight and keep it off. You don't have to "exercize" to lose weight, just go for evening walks (fast walks), go dancing, ride a bike...be creative in what you do. As for diet, reduce your refined sugars, fats & starches, eat less meat, eat more complex carbs, eat lighter - more veggies (raw is best), grains, pay attention to how you feel after you eat - if you feel heavy, bloated & full...you ate too much of the wrong things. Keep your diet colorful and simple. Don't eat anything fried!!!

Eat five small meals a day and drink as much water as you can. If you don't eat your body will only store the fat. In order to lose fat your body has to have all the nutrition it needs to maintain when that happens your metabolism will work correctly and you will lose weight.
