My husbnad is in the early stages of Dementia and his memory is failing rapidly and it is very upsetting to him, and frustrating to me. Is there any memory exercises that can help him remember things that happen daily as well as maybe help him get back the memory of some other simple things...like he can't remember how to operate the washer;the remote control, where his clothing is in certain drawers.how to turn off the buzzer on the alarm clock, etc.
These may seem like petty things...but to someone who used to know them so easily, and now can't...they become a major issue. I am so worried about him...he gets so frustrated and starts saying things he shouldn't.
Please, can't somebody help us!!!!
Thank you in advance!!!

My mother in law is in the same boat, my father in law has been involved in medicine all his life and has had her doing things like crossword puzzles (they do them together) and anything that involves memory recall. Easier word games or picture games could be of benefit to try and at least slow the process. Dementia is hard on everyone so get in touch with others in the same situation in your area and they may be able to help with how they have coped with it.

i do no longer know something approximately that drug. yet you could desire to work out a doctor. The wellness care provider can make it easier to recognize if between the area outcomes of the drug is this style of misunderstanding. if so, possibly a metamorphosis of dosage or drug will help. The wellness care provider may additionally administer memory exams to you to work out in case you do in certainty have any cognitive impairment. If the exams show you do, and it is not with regards on your medicine or your concern, they'll do further exams (blood exams, innovations scans, and so on) to discover the reason. there are various forms of dementia with many motives. If this memory concern has brought about you to lose your job and withdraw socially, you quite could desire to seek for medical interest. If that's any help, i think of you have "expressive aphasia." My dad has it--plenty worse than you--it replace into one in each and every of his preliminary Alzheimer's indications. (See the 1st link under for greater data on it.) yet remember i'm no wellness care provider and that i could desire to be incorrect. See a doctor! Please!

i have read of one simple exercise-which i have already started to practice. it goes like this: enter a room, look at each and every object in the room, then leave the room. then, sit down and write down every item from the room you can remember and check to see if you have missed out anything. (2)read a short paragraph or a short story and after 5 minutes or so, recall as much as you can. we in india believe eating 2-3 almonds in the morning helps memory-i have no proof of this, but it won't do any harm either.
as a practical thing, have you tried using an alarm to signal to your husband that he has to do something?
my best to you and your hubby.
