The word lunar comes from Luna (a moon goddess) and aurora (as in aurora borealis) is also the name of a roman goddess of the dawn. The planet and the periodic element mercury are both named for the messenger god Mercury. The latin root of the word jovial is Jove, god of the sky and justice. A chemical process called vulcanization gets its name from the smith god Vulcan. All of the planets are name after roman gods, except earth, and I think some of the moons as well.
