I know it's AWOL for enlisted to leave without authorization but is it the same for Officers?

Johnathan is almost right - but AWOL requires 24-48 hours, if memory services me right (been a while since I handled a chapter case). Deserter is 30 days, which is the time it takes for the unit to drop an AWOL soldier from its manning roster and open the slot.

When someone leaves their post, depending on circumstances it's either Missing Movement or Dereliction of Duty. You have to define if you mean "post" as in installation or "post" as in place of duty.

Oh,yeah. Did you know that you can be charged with being AWOL even if you are present as the charge is being absent or present in incorrect uniform ie: not the uniform of the day as specified by the OC.
This is a weird one but during the Napoleonic war a midshipman was tried and convicted in deserting his command during action(not his post). He was on the bridge when he escorted a wounded officer down to the surgeon in the cockpit. While he was away all the officers had been called to the bridge and a cannister round had killed or badly wounded all of them. He rushed back but was to late. The ship was lost and when he was returned to Britain he was tried. He was convicted of deserting his command because he became the captain when all the other officers became incapacitated.

Everyone above is wrong on the answer, for leaving their post it is called dereliction of duty. AWOL is absent from accountability formations without leave. Both are punishable under the UCMJ.

NO, AWOL requires 30 days. Leaving a post is simply UA. Unauthorized absence.

ny is common as "ny" because of the fact some time past a well-liked human beings hero (Johnny Appleseed) planted a unmarried seed interior the process the city. Then, in an ordinary warp in area-time, a boy named Jack planted a seed he believed to be magical interior an identical spot. In what continues to be seen a marveling organic and organic progression, the two seeds fused collectively on a molecular point. After an surprising rain, the seed hybrid grew into an apple 300ft tall and approximatively 330ft extensive. The strangest element being the absence of a tree. it form of feels the apple became into thoroughly typical, different than it grew at recent from the floor with its very own roots like a beanstalk of a few form. for some years yet to return, human beings might circulate to the city and seem up on the impossible fruit and think of "it rather is a extensive apple". After a collectively as human beings began touching on the city itself as "ny". yet then, 1943 Oct eleventh, some thing unusual surpassed off. because of the fact the city laid to relax, the night as quickly as back upon them, there became right into a stunning flash of purple gentle. The flash lasted for virtually 4-5 seconds. no person is definite what brought about the flash, yet as quickly because it became into over the apple had in simple terms disappeared. not basically had it vanished, the floor it had grown from had closed as though it have been by no potential there. some say the apple had grown so great it created some style of fruity supernova and collapsed in on itself in a black hollow. some say the aliens to blame for the loss of life of the dinosaurs got here back and destroyed the apple besides. We would by no potential understand precisely what surpassed off that night, yet one element is for constructive. That became right into a great-*** apple.

I think anyome who is Absent Without Leave is absent without leave, no matter the rank. There may be stiffer consequences for an Officer leaving his post though.
