He was in the Navy-1972-1975. His service record was lost on the USS Kitty Hawk when he was medvac'd there. I don't know where to find the ship logs/records or accident reports. VA is fighting him. And I (his wife) am trying to help him. He is both mentally and physically disabled.

There's info about requesting deck logs at Navy FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act)

Someone at the kittyhawkvets.com message board may be able to help you too.

NCAMEDTECH - your best bet is to start with your State's department of Veteran Affairs office. When your husband was discharged, there's a very good chance some of his records were forwarded there. Also, you might try the US Navy Personnel Command (formerly known as BuPERS) at the web site I've listed below. They may not have his actual records, but they should be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck, ...and God bless.

Send him to Military.com. They have access to all ships and most military installations. Only he can access the information. There are thousands of sailors that were on the Kitty Hawk and a lot of them are listed on Military.com Did you try to google the name?
