I have really bad foot cramps almost every other night. It seems to be getting more frequent lately. Graves disease runs in my family....and this was one of the early signs my mom had. I don't remember if they were directly linked or if it was just coinsidence that she was diagnosed with it a few years later. Is it possible that this is what is happening to me? I get plenty of potassium, I eat healthier now than I ever did, so... what do I do? I pray that I don't get it but maybe it is inevitable? PLEASE HELP!!

When I get leg cramps it is usually due to a shortage of calcium and magnesium. I suggest either tablets with those or something called CalMax if you can find it. Usually sold at chiropractors offices (if they went to Palmers or Life West) or nutrition centers. You can also get a homeopathic called Leg Cramps by Hylands. If they don't work I would ask my doctor to try and early test for Graves and keep a close eye on it. Also you may need to stretch your hamstrings and calf muscles.
Hope this helps!

Graves has to do with "proximal myopathy" that is weakness of the shoulder and hip girdle
diet cannot prevent the disease
u could do some lab test to see if u have the disease or not, thyroid function test and anti-thyroglobulin antibody
if ur gonna have the disease, then better know early b4 the eye signs appear, otherwise, other symptoms are easily controllable by therapy
