Mz Sassy, there is no right or wrong time to put your decorations up. I am a Christmas-Holic. LOL I have been known to put them up the latter part of October and I know other people who do too. It takes a long time to decorate if you have many rooms and many decorations and you don't want to feel stress but rather enjoy doing it. This year, I AM going to put mine up before Thanksgiving even though I shall have many here for dinner on Thanksgiving Day. The little Christmas Village takes me a long time to set up, for example and we have many collections and put up four trees. I want to enjoy the month of December with friends and family and do more baking as well. By the way, Christmas Cookies can be frozen for three months so start counting when you start baking too! Do your shopping now and yes, wrap those gifts while you are watching tv. Have fun making the packages beautiful. That is the beauty of starting early. You have the time to make it just the way you want it. Oh, one more thing, go ahead and address the Christmas Cards too. You can sign them later. Have a blast and remember Jesus is the reason for the season.

I usually put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down Jan 2, but there have been a few times I just didn't bother with a tree at all because it didn't feel like Christmas. I think this year I will have a tree as I'm already getting the holiday spirit.

I know that this is going to sound to thought out but trust me. Day after thanksgiving Decorate the house. After that you decorate the tree when you do that is up to you, a couple of things to consider: family traditions, kids coming back from college and if it is a real tree or fake. About a week before Christmas you would start wrapping the presents.

I think it's too early. I open my Xmas boxes on Dec 1 and start putting things out bit by bit. The tree is usually the last thing I put up; it depends how I slow I am w everything else. I guess if I had my own house I'd do the outdoor decorations first, then decorate inside afterwards. (It takes me more than one day.) I leave everything up until Jan 12. I read somewhere that Jan 12 is the "official" end of Christmas, so I've chosen that date for myself. I like to see my Christmas stuff on New Year's eve and day.

The day after Thanksgiving.
This is traditional in America. With all the "Holiday" BS in the malls on September 25th of this year so far... "tradition" is in danger. It sucks.

Anything earlier is tacky.... ie:

Macy's has their so called "Holiday Store" open already were I live, only 2 weeks into September.

Guess were I'll NEVER shop.

What happened to not only to Halloween, but more Importantly "Thanksgiving" In our country?

Where have they gone?

Last year major retailers felt the backlash, such as Lowe's home improvement stores for selling "Holiday Trees".

They finally went back to calling them what they are.

Christmas Trees.

Good question! They are "CHRISTMAS" decorations!!!

The day after... THANKSGIVING. !!!!

well i've grown custom to setting up the day after thanksgiving because normally it's the day after all the football games and if you do have a b/f or husband it probably wouldn't be a good idea to set it up the day of haha.....
at any case, it depends on the person, i think setting it up earlier is a great idea, but then again so would the electric company.

There is a house in our area that has them up already, but with a Halloween theme! How tacky is that!! I think the day after Thanksgiving is perfectly acceptable.
