See, here, in Psalm 14:1, I'm told:

"The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good."

So, am I doomed to forever be corrupt, and perform vile deeds?

Note: Telling me to accept Jesus doesn't count. I have trouble FORCING myself to believe anything. It just doesn't work.

First of all, kudos to you for looking at Psalms and quoting that verse. Way to go! You are absolutely setting your feet on the right path to the answer to your question.

But, wait a minute. You quoted the verse, a fool says in his heart, there is no God, and then followed that up with a caveat that telling you to accept Jesus won't work. The only problem is, you're giving yourself a good start and then you slam on the brakes and your car just flipped over.

Jesus is the truth, the life and the way. Don't force yourself to believe anything; just, by faith, tell God that you want to know about His son. You are so close to the answer you are seeking; don't turn away now!

You can be less corrupt by having, and showing respect for others.

But I understand the gist of your question. You're not really asking about your own corruption, are you? ;)

King David, or one of his line wrote that Psalm. The Psalms were collections of poems, songs and prayers. He was waxing poetic here, so let's take the passage in context.

He was king of the nation of Israel, blessed by God with a special wisdom. To those people in those times, they lived day to day, season to season. The higher powers in their lives were their king, and God.

What are your higher powers? Do you just live day to day responding to the stimuli around you? If you are not in danger of being turned corrupt and vile by the world around you, then on what do you base your compassion? Your morality? Your sense of right and wrong?

You're full of doubts, that's good. God likes people to ask questions and "be discerning". You've looked in Psalms and you're asking here. Keep asking questions. Set your heart on the right path. Maybe God will find YOU. ;)

Heh, wow, I had no idea! How could I have known Habitat for Humanity was vile? Or that donating blood or bone marrow was corrupt of me? I'll be sure to knock stuff like that off right away. Because the bible says so.

treat other people how you would like to be treated. Most
likely you do not want to be treated poorly. You have admitted
you are corrupt and that is the first step in changing yourself.
you should begin feeling better about yourself as you make positive changes. the choice is yours and noone elses you
have control over yourself which is a great thing. even if you
have to learn the hard way, good luck.

It is human nature to be corrupt. You have no choice in the nature of your design. You do however have logic and logic can lead you to realize consequence. Think of the consequence of your action. Think of the ripple of people that will be effected by your action. You find 10 dollars in Wal Mart. Could that be someones last ten dollars to feed their children for the week? Who have you effected by choosing to keep the that $10? If this does not help lead you to making better choice in your life, you simply dont want to.

God has given to each person a measure of faith. Have you ever just tried to listen to God.....that small still voice......He is so real when you feel Him from the heart....and not so much the mind. Open your heart and cry out...He is waiting to show you just how real HE is.

Sounds like you are doomed only by your own conscience. You know you are doing wrong, so why aren't you changing the situation? Why don't you care enough to change?

You are a cup.
To get rid of that dirty gunk in you.

Pour more of the goodness and purity into you. Let it dilute and get rid of that 'corrupt'ness. ~_^
