I'd rather stand for election as a totally independent MP, as I feel that these day's th MP's, rather than being involved for the good of the country, are simply spouting a load of old bollox in order to better their own lives, with scant regard for the wants and needs of the people.

If we had MPs who had no ties to political parties, I think we would see a progressive, involved government that reflects the best interests of the UK population. I also conider taht we should have a general election every 3 years, not every 5.

I would like to stand not only for my local council but run for priminister, (not that I would be elected or anything as im way too politically incorrect) and why well I'm sick and tired of being asked to vote for people who tell you want you want to hear until they get into such a power full position and then just do as they please, what ever happened to being true and honest to the cause, Britain is going down the pan and people are giving up is this really what our elders fought and died and suffered for, i think not, and I would like to change this with my no nonsense approach but any-who coming back to reality what real power does the local government have when what they say falls on deaf ears!!!!

I would like to learn more about the workings of my council and consider standing for a seat in the future, but not at the moment.

Does anyone know if council meetings are closed or if you can go and see what is going on?

I would like to stand as an Independant on the platform of- You are going to pay someone, why not pay me?
The only promise I would offer people is that I would not waste your money on stupid ideas like the Supertram, Centres for Popular Music or the World Student Games.
But in reality, I don't think people vote on the basis of honesty, just on habit or self-interest and not for the good of the Community.
ps. Guess the City?

I would, and I'm planning to in the future.

I believe that those who sit back and do not get involved pretty much get what they deserve in the way of government, even at a local level. Also I have beliefs that I want to share to help make the community better - things like all humans should have basic rights and be treated fairly, commerce should not come before community, etc.

I might. Because I believe that that my local council fail the general public and I would like to see their views given a better priority.

I'd like to do far more than just stand by them! The sodding waste of council tax we see every day and the extortionate salaries the hierarchy pay themselves!

I'd like to stand and win as it would make me the first Scottish Nationalist councillor in England. I honestly think I could do it.
