Yes they are. I have been on both sides of the coin. This is coming from a former anorexic to having 5 kids, and huge weight gain, back to "normal" size. I have been turned down for jobs, made fun of and then to top it off, dumped when my boyfriends got razzed by their friends and my ex husband found me "physically Repulsive" (after having twins). I know that there are some real medical conditions that cause people to gain weight, as well as medications. I have a seizure disorder, that required me to take medication. That medication then caused me to gain 60 pounds, and I ate less and went to the gym more often. As a result, I relapsed, into an anorexic lyfestyle which I hate, but guess what, I got my dream job, three guys that want to date me, and people stopped staring at me. know what I am missing... People who will love me regardless, I always have, and will continue to support and respect all people. Too bad so many people out there are soo unbelievable and shallow that they need to judge others based on their outer self and not what is inside.

Yes.. especially girls.

I really don't think that fatter guys take as much heat.

Overweight girls take a LOT of bullsh!t... I think primarily from other girls.

On the whole, though, people tend to look at overweight people as people that do not take any care of their bodies -- and while this can actually be true to some extent, many times this is not the primary reason why.

It's a pretty deep-seeded prejudice, hard to overcome. Many people's first thoughts when thinking of an obese person are "smelly", "dumb", "slow", "unmotivated", and "lazy." Unfortunately, for the most part, these are unrelated to a person's obesety.

Fatness is an epidemic America, as well as the rest of the "modern" world. Most of it has to do with what we eat and how we eat it. For many, a cycle is as difficult to break as smoking cold turkey is... it IS possible, but hard.

The way we are moving now, however, is a good direction. Health awareness is being spread, and the public is being introduced to health tips, general knowledge, and a sense of caring that was not present ever before. I *hope* this can start to rectify America's newest real epidemic, which takes SO many more lives each year than any source in America.

Of course they are... but they are different. Somehow they have allowed themselves to become so fat while normal-sized people have been able to maintain a normal weight. I don't mean this in a mean way, but it bothers me sometimes when heavy people talk about how difficult things are for them, and I do understand that it is hard to be fat in today's society.... but really it is hard to get up every day and go to the gym, to eat healthy despite all of the crap being thrown our way and shoved in our faces, and to manage our stress in ways besides shoving food in our mouths. Ultimately, putting in that work pays off, because it leads to better health and none of the problems (emotional, societal, and health related) of being overweight.

I try not to treat them differently, but I just can't help but feel that something must be wrong with them (like something inside hurts, they carry some baggage besides their physical weight, or they have no impulse control and no discipline) that allows them to be and remain at a heavy and uncomfortable and unnatural weight. I am not talking about a large person, who is clearly large because that is naturally how they are, I am talking about people who are clearly obese and who have trouble breathing from just walking a few blocks... that is unhealthy and is a health hazard. People need to take care of themselves, and need to care for themselves, because if you lose your health or yourself then you lose everything.

Impressions are very impactful moments, what do you think when u first see an obese man, or girl?

In this society like many here knows, fat people are just "no no"s. It implies that you are fat so you are lacking physically, which means you're not good in tons of areas and that you are probably unhealthy, and that you can't get 2 hands on your own life.

I know a classmate in my college that goes "I hate fat people the most" knowing that I myself am fat and i didnt even really offend him at all.

And freakin how, I happen to be funny, and fat, so i get this constantly.
My favorite is when i tell a piss in your pants kinda funny joke, and people look at me in amazement, some try not to laugh, like I dont deserve to have attention and be popular.
The expect me to sit back and be quiet or someone might tell that fat ***** to shutup.
Here is my question how do you tell an annoying skinny girl to shutup, right after you finish banging her I bet!
Why? Because we are supposed to just sit there and take it, cuz were afraid people might start making fun of us since our problems are worn on the outside.

I think they are. People shown all over in the Media tend to be smaller so the public likes to see something that is pleasing to the eye. Its crazy!

ofcourse they are, people often times look at them in disgust, wonder why they are out eating in a restaraunt(even if eating a salad),you can't fit into rides at amusement parks, and now they want to charge more for airline tickets...the why is I guess that it's not healthy, and people are often judgemental without knowing the facts.

people make fun of us , we are often charged more for about everything, from clothes to airplane seats as they make us pay for two seats. they wont hire us for jobs because they dont like the way we look and we will raise their insurance costs since we are higher risk. guys wont date us, but secretly they want to have sex with us, as long as no one knows about it. its a sick world out there.
