OK, wow, another good question to keep me up when I should be sleeping! I believe, well, actually I don't know what I believe, but I have some thoughts... I don't know if my "soul" has lived through past lives, but I almost think that I've been a some sort of guardian angel, per se, for others and therefore have witnessed other lives and have experienced other things. But, I'm not totally sure... It is something that I contemplate from time to time...

Yes. I have a fear of choking and believe I died like this in a past life. I also have this thing for the name Elizabeth, I can't explain it but that along with the 16th century, and antiques. Im drawn to it in the most unusual way. In hypnotherapy you can actually bring up moments from a past life you are unaware of. Pretty cool huh?

For hindu's the idea of reincarnation is first introduced in the Upanishads (c. 800 BCE - ), which are philosophical and religious texts composed in Sanskrit. The doctrine of reincarnation is absent in the Vedas, which are generally considered the oldest of the Hindu scriptures.

The idea that the soul (of any living being - including animals, humans and plants) reincarnates is intricately linked to karma, another concept first introduced in the Upanishads. Karma (literally: action) is the sum of one's actions, and the force that determines one's next reincarnation.

The cycle of death and rebirth, governed by karma, is referred to as samsara. The ideas of reincarnation, karma, and samsara are found in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. In all these religious traditions, ultimate salvation is liberation, moksha or mukti from the cycle of death and rebirth. In Buddhism, this liberation is often referred to as nirvana. Other Bhakti traditions regard liberation from samsara as the beginning of true spiritual life, which continues beyond nirvana freed from the worldly nature.

As God told Jeremiah:

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
