I have aquaintances who do so reguarly and suggest that I do. However in the household in which I grew up..we never did this. It just seems to me it has to destroy the nutritional content of any vegetable to do so,with meat it would seem at minimum the taste. Refreezing food just does not seem to be the best practice.

As long as it is cooked you can although the taste might not be as great when you reheat it. But if it is uncooked left over's then no.

Yes it is perfectly fine to refreeze if it has been thoroughly cooked first. Do not refreeze thawed uncooked meat though, as this can harbor and grow bacteria. The leftovers do make great ingredients for soups, casseroles, stir fry, lots of things - especially if you cut it up in strips or cubes before refreezing. Then you just open the freezer bag, and take out what you need for a faster dinner! Be sure not to let it sit out for a long time before putting it into the freezer either, an hour or less.
I took nutrition classes in college, and so it is not just a thing that people do not thinking about food safety.

YEARS ago it was standard practice to say that you can't refreeze chicken. The stores do it, and you can too. As long as the chicken is still good, no smell or anything, wash it , and refreeze.

Freezing it to begin with destroys some nutritional content, then cooking it destroys alot more. It is safe to freeze again after cooking. Its very convenient to freeze cooked dishes to reheat at a later time. Makes for a quick and easy dinner.

Never, ever re-freeze poultry much less any other item! Bacteria grows even at fridge temperatures, especially on any flesh product. If it is uncooked, never put from freezer to fridge and back again. If cooked, yes, freeze, but do not let it come to temperature again. Either serve it after re-heating or toss.

yes...I do it all the time...and with a busy household with kids on the go...I would rather make meals ahead and freeze them then eat out 5 nights a week. I have never noticed any major change in taste.

When you cook the food it's seasoned and re-freezing doesn't diminish the flavor. It's a common practice.
