My current girlfriend is 8,000 miles away so count your blessings you can at least reach her. We talk on the computer via email and chat and also some snail mail and phone conversations. We have been together for about 2 years now. The only difference I can see is that I have actually met her in real, we spent about 3 weeks together. Our feelings for each other grow deeper every day. I say go for it, cause you never know IF this could be the one, your soulmate.

I can't say anything bad about it. I met a guy online almost three years ago. After about three months of chatting online we finally met. We started dateing. Last january we had a baby boy and last month. September 16th we were married. I would say meet the girl and see how it goes from there. It doesnt work out for everyone but in my case it did. Good luck to you. Go with your gut.

A bit quick on the marriage thing. I think I would want to meet the person face to face first.
My boyfriend and I met in March at myspace. We talked on that until April and then started talking on our regular email. In May we started talking on the phone. I knew I like him from the start but I was not ready to commit until we met face to face. We met in August and started dating. It would be nice to get this distance thing out of the way, but we don't want to jeopordize anything and still feel as we need time to get to no each other.

THAT REMINDS ME OF A GUY THAT I KNOW. AFTER MONTHS OF CHATTING, EXCHANGING LONG LOVING EMAILS, SHARING EVERYTHING ABOUT THEMSELVES, SEEING PICTURES ETC, HE FINALLY GOES BACK TO THE STATES TO MEET THAT WONDERFUL WOMAN HE HAD THE VIRTUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH. HE FINDS A CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS, VERY INTIMATE AND ROMANTIC, WITH A BIG KING SIZED BED AND HOTTUB IN THE LIVING ROOM. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE WONDERFUL WEEKEND WHEN ALL THEIR INTERNET DATES WILL AT LAST COME TRUE...
HE'S SUPPOSED TO TAKE HER WITH HIS CAR AND DRIVE 5 HOURS TO THE CABIN. EVERYTHING SEEMS PERFECT UNTIL HE SEES HER!!! UNLIKE THE PICTURES SHE SENT HIM AND THE DESCRIPTION" A FORMER RUNNER, JUST GAINED A FEW POUNDS RECENTLY", HE SEES A GIGANTIC WOMAN, AROUND 6'2", 250LBS, THAT SPEAKS WITH THE MOST TERRIBLE SOUTHERN ACCENT AND LAUGHS LIKE "OINK-ING"!!! THE PLANNED 4-DAY WEEKEND INSTANTLY BECOMES 2 DAYS, COS OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS AT HOME, HE GETS A TERRIBLE STOMACHACHE BOTH THE NIGHTS JUST TO PREVENT THE SEX... WELL, I HOPE IT DOESN'T TURN ON THAT WAY WITH UR DATE...
P.S. JUST WANNA ADD THAT THEY WERE ALSO VERY SERIOUS, EVEN IN LOVE, MAKING BIG PLANS ABOUT MARRIAGE ETC...

It sounds kind of weird, but this type of thing has worked out before. It depends how well they know each other. It's kind of like the opposite of the new relationship where the couple doesn't talk much and just has physical contact right off the bat.

I think that is absolutly insane... Don't marry the guy. How do you know for sure he is who he says he is??? People are different on the internet and phone than in person... Don't do it. If anything just meet him first but don't get married till you are sure of who he REALLY is.

Persoanlly, I don't think it's love when you've never even met the person. I think it can be infatuation, but not love. People can be completely different in person than they are online or in letters or phone.

Well, I think he is in love with an "ideal," and that marrying her without spending a weekend playing Monopoly with her first is probably a huge mistake!
