about 4 inches to the elbow. you can stick me with a needle and i do not feel it. you can grab and squeeze it and it will put me in tears as its a horrible pain and bad burning that will last about 2 hrs. after you have squeezed it. i know your all going to say go to the doctor been there done that they dont seem to have a clue. they ruled out corpal tunnel and said maybe could be a pinch nerve. now i know there are test to find out for sure but those were just to expensive. just wondering if anyone has had any thing similar to this happen to them or someone they know. and no i cant pick up anything over about 3lbs with my right hand as i drop it . like the hand goes limp. no swelling no fever.. it is often cold as ice. the only way i can describe the feeling is like a limb asleep for a long time and you touch it but dont really feel real . any info you have i would appreicate. im working on my own studies trying to figure this out.. thanks in advance

Well, the only two thoughts I had was carpal tunnel or a pinched nerve. It is good that they have ruled out carpal tunnel, but you are right, tracking down the nerve could be tricky and costly. I have a suggestion that you might not have thought of... I would suggest an alternative medicine route. The two people that I would suggest is a chiropractor and an acupuncturist.

Sounds like some kind of damage along the spine, more specifically along the neck. Have you been in any accidents or situations where your neck has been jerked, like whiplash? If so, that might have contributed to a pinched nerve or some kind of vertebrae damage. Being that the problem is going on in your arm, it is not likely that the problem is located in your back. Get an MRI. It is expensive, but if you do not get it checked out, you will undoubtedly cause more significant damage possibly paralysis. I'm sure that there are programs that the hospital can recommend to help pay for the treatment. Contact the billing department at the hospital before you go. They will tell you of any financial assitance you can get.

I wonder how many pillows you sleep with? You have a pretty well inflamed brachial plexus. The nerve you refer to is both sensory and motor.. depending on which part is the most inflamed, so will the symptoms occur. Carpal tunnel syndrome shouldn't even have been suggested. Your problem originates much higher.. actually in the lower part of the neck. Were any xrays taken? You do need to see a chiropractor and get the pressure reduced in that area of the neck... the inflammation will subside once that pressure is reduced.

Well Beverly, about 3 years ago I suffered a pinched nerve in my right arm (the ulnar nerve). In the beginning, nobody knew it was a pinched nerve and I went through about 3 month's of physical therapy before the therapists realized it was not helping (actually brought me to tears at times). Finally the sent me to a specialist in sports medicine, with some kind of electrical shocks they determined I had a total nerve block at that time. My only option was surgery (Ulnar Nerve Transposition). The Ulnar Nerve is actually the "funny bone" and it controls half your arm and 3 of your fingers, during the surgery they "moved" it from one side of my arm to the next. Hope this helps. I know its painful and frustrating.

My mom had the same problem. They did an MRI and they found out that she actually had a pinched nerve and that a calcified piece of bone grew out of her neck spain and pinched on the nerve that runs down her arms. Nerve problems are best with an MRI. I'm sorry to hear that you are having this same problem as my mom b/c it has been hard on her.

try a chiropractor. That should be less then a regular Dr. and maybe they have a better Idea. Ya, sounds like a pinched nerve or a tendon problem. Sorry I feel for you.
