Expiration dates on canned items are meaningless.
If the can has not been punctured, or otherwise compromised, the contents are safe.

I once opened a can of Van de Kamps Pork N' Beans that was way over 10 years old... (long story...) nothing wrong with It.

I know Campbell's guarantees their soup for 2 years.
But believe me, It will last much longer than that.

YES..canned goods can last YEARS beyond the expiry date .. don't worry about it. Here is some VERY interesting info about canned food .. basically, unless your can of food is more than 100 years old don't worry about the expiry date:

http://www.foodreference.com/html/tcannedfoodshelflife.html

"Canned food has a shelf life of at least two years from the date of processing. Canned food retains its safety and nutritional value well beyond two years, but it may have some variation in quality, such as a change of color and texture. Canning is a high-heat process that renders the food commercially sterile. Food safety is not an issue in products kept on the shelf or in the pantry for long periods of time. In fact, canned food has an almost indefinite shelf life at moderate temperatures (75° F and below). Canned food as old as 100 years has been found in sunken ships and it is still microbiologically safe! We don't recommend keeping canned food for 100 years, but if the can is intact, not dented or bulging, it is edible."

No, But i did try and many times to eat soup with a spoon, especially if a soup is thick (you can thicken the soup effectively by adding some flour). It takes more time, so I enjoy it longer

No, and it's not healthy no matter what others say so don't trust this myth about ageless food in freezer or cans.

Yes, and I never had a problem. The expiry date had not been long though.
