i have the same problem, i used to never dream till i started taking accutane pills and everynight i have been having disturbing nightmares, never the same thing for a couple of months now...either im sold as a sex slave, having a miscarriage, killing my b/f, my father molesting me or my best friend dying

i dont know the actual cause of them either but people believe its all in my mind, that i must be thinking something about these thoughts subconicously throughout the day, but seriously do i think about being a prostetuite in belgium or china in the day? no, so im not really sure the answer

i dont eat sugar or take any other kind of drugs, i am depressed though, that may be the cause of my disturbing dreams, for you it can be other things

Usually nightmares have something to do with your Sub-Conscious. Like your brain is trying to tell you something and the only way it can, is through your dreams. Mine always mean something, be it an upcomming event or something of the past I've never been able to let go ... or even something I had just watched on Television.

I suggest getting a DREAM INTERPRET book and keeping it handy for when you wake up so you can at least have a better understandinding why you're having the nightmares.

Well, you've already gotten some really good answers. Bad dreams could be related to stress. Did you have a change of environment, new job, breaking of relationship, elevated stress or fears, or something major happen in your life you felt was out of your control? These things could all manifest themselves through nightmares. The best thing I've found help me was to first identify what is causing so many thoughts and then try to solve your problems in real life and sleep life. I had night terrors when I was younger because I had sister who was sick and I wanted to help but felt as if I couldn't because I didn't understand what was happening. Well, needless to say I learned to deal and understand what was going on with my sister, and that seemed to be the easy part. But, I had to actually learn how to control myself in my dreams and defeat the "Big Bad" in them. I did it once in a dream and never had it again... (OK, until I was pregnant, but you have CRAZY dreams when you're preggers!)

Are you watching a bunch of scary or troubling things before bed? That will do it. Are you stressed about work, home, etc.? That will do it too. Sounds like you need something relaxing to do. Don't stress about your dreams, that will make you dream bad things too. If they are bothering you, maybe go see a counselor. Just remember they are only dreams. Good luck to you.

Nicotine, narcotics and yes, sugar before bed...also, if you are bipolar of have depression this is a common thing. Review this with a doctor and they will help you find what it's about. Emotional stress may be the cause.

Something has to be bothering you either conciously or subconciously. Ask yourself if you are missing the big picture. What is it that you want and think you can't have? Does your life have direction? Take steps to do things that make you happy and see if they don't stop in a couple weeks.
