In 1968 we had almost 500,000 Troops in Vietnam, and that was the year of decision in Vietnam. Americans know that year that the war was lost. I also believe I read that 3,000,000 American Troops served in Vietnam. And many more in support in Thailand, Guam the Philippines and Japan and so on.

Over 8 million, 744 Thousand American military (About 4.5 Million in the Army) served during the Vietnamese War, and that does not count those prior to the buildup who were advisers! 540,000 in 1968, the year after I came home!

There are 58,229 names on the Vietnam Memorial! There were 153, 303 Wounded!

There were other troops as well as the Australian's and South Koreans, among others!

Iraq, like Vietnam, we don't even report how many of them are being killed or wounded in OUR war! The press just reports "American deaths"! Does that mean the British dead don't count?

I think that we are to old to still be serving. I got out in 1974 which is when Vietnam ended. So if a person enlisted then he/she would have to be in for over 30 years.

I think at one point we had somewhere between 350,000 and 500,000 troops over there. Over 50,000 died.
