First off, how old is it? If it's new, it's normal to have some redness for a couple of days, good grief, your skin was drilled on by a reciprocating needle. It's going to cause some dermal trauma. Another possibility is that you have had an allergic reaction to one of the pigments used to color your tattoo in. If it persists to be irritated, have it checked out by the tatto artist first, chances are he/she would have a pretty good idea what they were dealing with if they saw it up close. If the tatto artist doesn't know what it is, see a dermatologist to get help. Peace

Is it a brand spanking new one? If so it will be red around it, but that will subside in a day or two. It will begin to itch and scab up as the healing process begins. Don't scratch it though if you must just slap it.

Are you keeping it clean? Wash with an antibacterial soap and warm water. Make sure to not let the water hit directly on it but to flow over it from above the artwork.

Keep it moist with a basic lotion preferably unscented with vitamins A and D in it..

I hope that helps
