There are many reasons.

If somebody drinks too much beer, all the carbonation may make them upchuck.

If they mix too much stuff in their stomach, their stomach acid will churn too much and cause them to vomit.

I knew a girl who always vomited after having only 2 drinks. She was a porker, too. It was obviously mental, she couldn't handle it.

And I knew about a guy who died of alcohol poisoning, but never threw up on his own. They tried to pump his stomach (or so I heard), but that was too late.

Both.
Vomiting is the body's way of getting rid of substances that are not good for it. And yes alcohol is considered a poison by the body.

I get sick because everything is spinning.....I can handle it, but not when the room moves around me. :)
