I've heard a story about people who have the same capability of rational thinking as I have, yet they seem to believe that an ancient book holds the full truth. It seems so unlikely to me. They are called Christians. Rational human beings, just like you and me. Does it take faith to believe in Christians?

Faith is the act of proving (of course, I mean proving in the sense of testing or trying - not by modern science) what you know to be true, but which often doesn't seem true.

Faith, in the theological sense, is doing what God says because you believe Him, even though what He says doesn't look like it will work. It is acting on your beliefs and convictions in spite of what your senses tell you. In acting on them, you prove them. You find that God makes a way.

The problem often comes when people try to use faith in a belief that is not really spiritually viable. Like that Christianity will bring them power and wealth. Look up what that did for Simon the Sorcerer.

Faith is testing what God says by trying it. It is action, not belief, though it is born of belief.

So, of course, you don't need faith to believe in the existence of Christians. They are easily seen and heard. It takes no "leap of faith" to believe in what you can see and hear.

I suppose if one had a bias that Christians were not rational human beings, it would take faith to discover that: a willingness to believe and test the belief that Christians are rational human beings. It would take faith to prompt one to interact with Christians in ways that would prove experientially whether or not Christians are (or can be) rational human beings.

Faith is an action verb. Faith is not feeling or simple belief. ;o)

here's what I think. b4 I believed, and became a christian I read the scriptures and had a hard time understanding, and needless to say I did not believe. I did however at a time when my second marriage was causing me great anxiety (caught her with the plumber) I went to a cabin to be alone and there was a Bible there and I tried reading it and good reading but nothing tripped my trigger. Just the same I did not want to think what I was thinking so to occupy my mind I picked the page I was on and kept reading it over and over. Maybe for an hour. When I stopped I felt strong and not anxious. I called her up and went home. Big mistake but spent 5 more hard years with her. The thing was when things were bad I had that portion of scripture memorized and though it had no bearing on anything repeating it over and over brought me peace. Mind you I was still a pretty determined non-believer. Once I had taken my first step out into the believing arena these maybe 5 years latter when I read the Bible began to make sense and people who were believers began showing up in my life and talking to me and inviting me here or there and talking God stuff. At this point I just achknowledged that God did indeed exist (there is a story here but it is irrelavent to your question In 1981 I completed the becoming God's friend process and since then the Bible (that book you call ancient) became like my best friend also, it unravels mysteries, explains the answers to many questions, and what is the most astounding is that it is fun for me to read it. It is very funny in places and so unfolds human nature, it helped me to be a successful counselor, anyway it became interesting where befor it was like you say an ancient book. Here is an interesting point I am dyslexic and any other book remains difficult to read. So here it is a story full of a kind of supernatural and my guess is it will take some faith on your part to believe in what I typed in to this computer. Maybe I am a little crazy it is just an old book right???

The Bible says that one and all creation is testimony for God's life motives why you refuse to have self assurance is considering the fact which you do not prefer to be decrease than the regulation He brings all the way down to His toddlers you do not prefer to be decrease than His ethical standards so which you will possibly extremely make up your individual..the only way you're able to do it is by potential of shutting out the author. Christianity comes with a great style of regulations and those regulations whilst broken tears at a Christians heart lots so they sense the would desire to repent and look for education from the daddy an atheists might extremely overlook approximately God then would desire to sense obedient and unswerving to Him. there is evidence for God yet you pick for to overlook approximately it yet each and every knee will bow and each tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord on the day of Judgment so shop residing in denial yet you will bow down earlier Jesus PROPHECY has been written and it rather is predestined without your approval

It may seem unlikely to you, that the ancient book holds the full truth! But have you looked into it?If not, how, can, it seem unlikely, to you, because you would have no idea, what it contains, so, how can you without looking into it, discredit it? Is that really logical or rational thinking?

Faith is the 1st step we christians take to find God. When we found Him & establish a growing relationship, then trust is built & same trust & belief is apply to His Word (bible). Without knowing Him 1st & having a relationship built, the bible is no different from a novel (valid or invalid) written by a author you never met.

If you have faith in Christians you will no doubt be dissapointed as we are full of imperfections. Faith in Christ is a different story.
