You may have sleep apnea. You need to be evaluated for this very serious condition. And yes, being overweight, and having and short neck contribute to this condition. It is not normal to snore. Other conditions can contribute such as a deviated septum of your nasal passage. When you lay on your back you will snore more because that is when your tongue falls back during sleep and blocks your throat. If you lay on your side, you will most likely not snore as often. So the position you sleep in does affect your snoring. But please be evaluated by a doctor for sleep related problems. If you have sleep apnea you'll feel tired all day, wake up feeling like you haven't even slept.

Everyone is different, weight can effect how much you snore, however, there are many other reasons why people snore some of them being medical reasons such as sleep apnea, or breathing passage problems, A medical doctor should be able to diagnose and treat either condition, you could try some at home methods such as sleeping on your side or buying over the counter breathe right strips. If you think your snoring condition is too bothersome you should as your doctor what would work best for you....

Yes, being a diabetic does factor into the snoring equation. Being overweight factors in as well. Nasal congestion contributes to snoring as well. Did you know that losing just 10% of your body weight will help reduce the snoring? Also, you need to get a sleep study done to make sure it is not sleep apnea. If it is you need to get treated right away to avoid heart problems down the road.

i wld say... change the way u sleep.
if not, yea.. doctor will help.
And, maybe u shld try sleeping earlier and not get urself too tired.
i do snore when i was young. but not now when i m older.

weight is a factor to snoring...also alcohol can contribute to snoring.....try sleeping on your side i find this helps with my hubby.......

You need to see a throat specialist. Sounds like sleep apnea, which could be dangerous. I had the surgery, and it worked well. (Painful but it did work).
