Not much sadly unless you get rid of the fleas completely. You can try a flea bath, but topicals are best such as Advantage Flea Control. See the link below. Remember also that you have to treat the areas that your dog sleeps in or rests in. Fleas can nest in carpets, furniture and all kinds of fabrics, they don't need to be attached to your animal.

Get rid of the fleas by using Frontline, Revolution, or whatever your vet recommends. Don't try using multiple flea products in a short period of time. You can overload your pet and cause other problems. Don't use anything with pyrethrins, they're not good for pets or kids.
Some animals are allergic to the fleas' saliva and have a reaction similar to a mosquito bite. If this occurs you may need to take your dog to the vet for an injection that helps with the itching. You could also ask your vet if you can give Benadryl, make sure to get a dose and find out how long you can give it.
Also, you may need to treat your house for fleas, otherwise, the problem may never go away.

I have four dogs and three cats, so I know how you feel! First of all, you have to get rid of the fleas or you're wasting your time. Flea dip, powder and collar should work on the dog (frontline is great also!), but the fleas are all over your house as well, if your dog comes inside. Vaccuuming DOES NOT get rid of the fleas. In fact, they breed in the vaccuum cleaner and come right back out. I used flea shampoo in a steam cleaner once and it was WONDERFUL! Spray your yard too. You can get a relatively cheap outdoor flea killer from any feed and seed store. Then, to ease the ITCH, simmer a few Comfrey leaves in some extra virgin olive oil. You can put a few chunks of beeswax in there too, if you want it to be more creamy. Apply this oil (or cream, if you prefer) to the bites. The Comfrey will ease the itch AND aid the healing process and won't make the dog sick. The dog will think it tastes like crap anyway, but it won't hurt him. Good luck. Let me know if this helps!

Visit a groomer for starters. And there are various flea remedies on the market that you may purchase from your Vet. Front line is a very popular flea remedy. And, if your dog stays outdoors and does have a dog house you can do this. Cedar chips are very good for putting in your dogs bedding. You can buy them anywhere at most of your pet stores. The purpose of cedar chips is the fact it does indeed discourage fleas.

Well-first you need to get rid of the fleas and either from a Pet Supply store or the Vet you get a spray for hot spots and itching for dogs To make sure your pet does not get fleas add Brewers Yeast to its food-comes in pills or power and i like the powder ,also my dog and my cat love it in their food-I just sprinkle it one. You also need to keep the areas where the dog hangs out free of fleas-spray with vinegar-smell goes away in about 15 minutes There is no home remedy for flea bites but the spray I mentiond-once those are healed and can no longer sting-mix BROWN Vinegar---2 tablespoon in 1 1/2 cuo of lukewarm water and put on his fur-be careful not to get in his eyes, nose, ears but the best methoid is Frontline once a month-keeps the dog flea free

Have you addressed the fea infestation, but your dog is still suffering from the bites? Some dogs are allergic to fea bites, a condition known as flea bite dermatitis. Even long after the fleas have gone, dogs can experience a chronic inflamation at the bit sites. Here is an herbal product you can apply to your dog's skin to help with the dermatitis.

If you have adressed the flea problem, on the dog and in its environment, try washing it in an iodine based wash such as Quit-Itch.
Dont use human shampoos or soaps, they are too harsh and will make the prpblem worse.
